Candelario´s some information:

Candelario is a municipality in the province of Salamanca in the autonomous community of Castilla y Leon, Spain. Is at a distance of 76 km from Salamanca, the provincial capital. This twinned with Rivodutri, an Italian village.


Of Candelario origin is attributed to a colony of Asturias pastors and their origin is very remote and have importance in Roman times.

After the Christian Reconquest became part of the Council of Avila, being repopulated by peoples from the Avila Alfoz and other Castilla.At years 1209, Alfonso VIII of Castile creates the Community of Villa Bejar and Earth in the coming Candelario to join together with segregated areas of Avila.

Finally in 1833 is included in a capricious and arbitrary, without regard to its historical past, the province of Salamanca.

Demographics In 2003 with a population of 1014 inhabitants, of whom 498 were men and 516 women in an area of 60.17 km ². Its altitude is 1126 meters above sea level.
