Photographer’s Note
Along with the Alcázar and the cathedral, this roman aqueduct is one of the major landmarks of Segovia.
The time of its construction is unknown, but historians believe that it was built in the late 1st century AD or the early 2nd century. It was used until recently and it is one of the most outstanding and best kept Roman constructions of Iberian Peninsula. The tallest part, which I believe is depicted here, is 28.5 meters tall. It took water to the city from a source 17 Km away.
The last major restoration started in 1997 and some sources state that the works aren't finished yet. I don't know if the situation improved, but there is much concern about the negative impact of pollution, with some people talking about real danger of collapse.

Hi kris.
Excellent POV with the aqueduct and the city. A nice contrast.
I also like the people there, giving a lot of dynamism.
Well done!

Romans were specialists in building of aqueducts!
A superb composition with fantastic perspective and sharpness! Impressive architecture! The traditional houses next to the main element of your composition function ideally! The cloudy sky worked also very well for the exposure.

Hallo Kris!
A photo to marvel ... and a building to admire. Ilike the composition of the photo very much which devides the scenery in "old" and "today". A really worth-visiting and -seeing place... The impression of deptht in this picture is amazing.
A contribution in terms of TE!
Greetings from Germany!

Hello Kris,
I think this image is much more successful than the closer view you posted on April 4. I would, however, suggest cropping the left edge (see my WS) because I find the amount of sky visible through the first arch distracts the eye from the perspective of the aqueduct. Regards,
Mary

Hi, Kris -
A very nice TE-quality photo with imaginative POV and diagonals. There is a lovely subtle quality to the light.
Best,
Dan
