Photographer’s Note

The southern slopes of the Cantabrian mountains have wild and unpopulated regions of high summits and sweeping valleys with magnificent panoramic views over the limestone peaks of the Picos de Europa (2.648 m.)
This region is dominated by majestic karstic summits around 2.450 and 2.536 mt over the sea level.

The snow remains often until may/june, and the vast oak , pine and beech forests supports a high percentage of the endangered eastern population of the european brown bear. Wolves, chamois, red deers, wild boars, golden eagles, peregrines and both griffon and egyptian vultures are abundant too.
