Calatañazor is a municipality of the province of Soria, Autonomous region of Castile and León, in Spain.

Calatañazor (of the Arab Calatat-Nossurt, nest of eagles), rises on top of a hill that there dominates the vega of the river Abión. Of intense frontier history and beautiful natural environments.

To walk along his picturesque streets will surprise the traveler, steep, cobbled and with his typical built complete houses of stone, mud and wood with conical chimneys. The whole Calatañazor is a monument, a trip to the history. Orson Welles rolled here some scenes of the movie " Strokes to midnight ".

The battle of Calatañazor took place in this locality soriana in July, 1002. In her Almanzor turned out to be forced to flee, fighting against the Christian cotied armies of Castile (count Sancho García), León (Alfonso V) and Navarre (Sancho III the Biggest).

Linda foto. Buen encuadre con una perpectiva excelente. El color del cielo es un azul perfecto que le da buen contrate a esta linda foto. Tu nota es muy instructiva. Con TE estoy aprendiendo Fotografia, Geografia, Historia mundial y castellano tambien :-)

Excellent view from this magnificent old fortress that is seen in exceptional details and clear true colors. Lovely contrast between the deep blue sky and barren winter trees.

muito bela captura! Gosto do POV de baixo para cima e do contraste um plano e bonito céu ao fundo. As árvores secas no primeiro plano ficaram boas e criam uma boa atmosfera à arquitetura. Belo trabalho!

Bonjour, mon amie Ros,
C'est un pan d'histoire qui se profile à travers cette photographie. Un nid d'aigles ou de vautours.
La contre-plongée donne bien le sentiment de hauteur et d'invincibilité.
Architecture et histoire se complètent fort bien dans cette vue.

Ros, this is really nice. I love these off-the-beaten-path photos, these are the places us tourists would never see in a hundred years. Color and detail is great and the bare trees make it kind of ominous, very nice.
