Calatañazor
 |

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Calatañazor is a small town (only 50 inhabitants during the winter) situated in the Castilian province of Soria, one of the most uninhabitated provinces of Spain. This province presents a extreme continental weather, which makes life here a bit unconfortable (specially if you are used to soft winters and warm summers), but for the same reason its emptiness is an attractive lure for those who enjoy silence and nature.
The area is plenty of small lakes, rivers, forests, canyons, birds of pray, Roman paved roads and medieval castles. Its beauty inspired poets like Antonio Machado and it is always a pleasure to spend some time here to order your thoughts and to rest your mind.
What appears in the picture is the view of the medieval town of Calatañazor, seen from the ruins of the castle. The main building on the left is the parish church, the rest are mainly restored old houses and their characteristic chimneys, unique of this village.
The leyend says that the Muslim leader of Al-Andalus, Almanzor, lost his drum in Catalañazor (XIth century of our age). That means that the ruler of the most advanced civilization of its time in Western Europe (remember the achivements of Cordoba) was defeated by shepherds in this inaccessible hilly and fortified village. Another example of David against Goliath. |

Excellent composition from a wonderful point of view. The choice of b/w is very good and fits very well with the subject.

Hola Javier.
Me gusta la composición y también que hayas escogido blanco y negro.
Pero creo que le falta todavía un poco de contraste que le favorecería.
Un saludo.

Excelente perspectiva me gusta mucho. Los colores monocromos le dan el toque especial y hacen resaltar muy bien las formas del paisaje y la iglesia. Al mismo tiempo que aumenta la sensación de estar en una tierra un poco árida. La definición es muy buena. TFS, Gabriel.
