The surprisingly bare interiors compared to the ornate exteriors of the Segovia Cathedral.
The Segovia Cathedral was begun in the 16th century (1525) but not finished until 1768, Segovia Cathedral is the last Gothic cathedral to be built in Spain. Fronting the historic Plaza Mayor in Segovia, it stands on the spot where Isabella I was proclaimed Queen of Castile. Affectionately called la dama de las catedrales, Segovia Cathedral has a supremely Gothic exterior combined with a surprisingly bare interior, but contains numerous treasures.
The Cathedral entrance is through the north transept. The interior, illuminated by 16th-century Flemish windows, is light, bare and uncluttered, with a large Gothic choir (15th-century, predating the cathedral) placed in the center. Across from the choir in the east end is the high altar, with an 18th-century altarpiece by Sabatini.
The walls and apse are lined with more than 20 chapels. The thir...d chapel on your right from the entrance (Capilla de San Cosme y San Damian) has a lamentation group in wood by the 17th-century Baroque sculptor Gregorio Fernández.
The Blessed Sacrament Chapel (created by the flamboyant Churriguera) features stained-glass windows, elaborately carved choir stalls, and 16th- and 17th-century paintings, including a reredos portraying the deposition of Christ from the cross by Juan de Jun
Behind the imposing Gates is an altar that is again very humbeling and simple, compared to the heavily ornate decor of other famous cathedrals. See the Altar in the Workshop.

Excellent point of view, showing the beautiful ceiling of the Cathedral of Segovia. Good sharpness and beautiful colors.

The vaulting here is particularly beautiful, like a ribcage made of stone. The lack of ornate decoartion draws to the eye very nicely to the beautiful ceiling which is a good thing. The gateway also has wodnerful detail. Perfect central composition too.
thanks for sharing

Namaskar dear Arunava
Did you do this without a tripod? Gee you have a very steady hand! The vertical frame is well-chosen, the image is expertly lit and as I remarked before, the image is remarkably sharp for 1/30 second and f/3 without a tripod. You've brought out the details in the architecture beautifully.

A nicely taken photo. Beautiful POV. very good detail. Church photo is very difficult to take. I failed miserably a lot.It would be a 'miracle' if I could get it right:-).
