Photographer’s Note
In its simplicity and roughness, this little Romanesque church is wonderful, perhaps even more when viewed from the Alcázar [1, 2, 3, 4] than seen closely like here. I read somewhere that is unique of its kind of Europe, or at least the best preserved. It was built by the legendary Knights Templar in the early 13th century, on the pattern of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. It has 12 sides and a round central nave. It housed a piece of wood that supposedly belonged to the the cross where Jesus died. That piece of wood is now in a church in the nearby village of Zamarramala.
WS1 - another view of the cross. ;D
WS2 - panoramic view of the church.

Olá José
Gosto desta e do WS#2.
Bom domingo!

This is one of those 'choices, choices!' decisions we all have to make, and I would have difficulty choosing between this and WS2. This one has the people, which often add extra interest, scale etc., but WS2 shows the church better and the shape you explain in your note. WS1 is a good for the additional information. Just a minor point, but I think I would have cloned out the sprig of leaves top left, as they are out of focus and a bit of a distraction. Even after rambling on here I still can't decide which I prefer, but all-in-all it is an excellent total presentation.

Bonjour Jose ,

A picture that proves that simple design can give great beauty.
The lady that walking between the church and the cross gives the composition a pleasant touch of humanity.

ricardo

Ola Jose,
Strong composition of the capture gives a good idea of the Templar Order strenghth. Gppd idea to include human figuures as some relative measure of the architecture.

hi Jose
Amazing view of the church under the bright light and blue sky, especially superb when you compare it with the tower and the cross at right, adding a touch of the man and woman walking through. Very impressive shot.

Bonjour Jose,

The 12-sided church for a Romanesque, I don't know of any other. Indeed, I would have guessed this to be 11th or 12th century at the latest. The two individuals walking add scale, the position of the man with the white shirt is fortuitously captured in the area of the shadow, and the woman with the red blouse just good for color highlight. WS2 is very good to view the edifice in the whole, and WS1 you've captured the man with the white shirt photographing his better half. Very nice package.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Jose, This is a very interesting shot, I really like the different heights it offers, like the tower, the cross & the woman all at good levels to each other, the blue sky makes for a wonderful backdrop & the sharp quality draws out the texture in the stone work, well composed & TFS, kind regards Wilson.

TFS.
Un fuerte abrazo mi querido amigo y cariños a tu esposa y a tu hijo.
