[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Here is another "soaring verticals" type of photo. This is the facade of the Monasterio de San Estéban. Here, on the orders of Isabel and Fernando, the (Dominican, I think)monks evaluated and gave the stamp of approval to Christopher Columbus's (Cristobal Colón) proposed journey to the Indies. This shows only part of the facade; I'll put a shot of the entire thing in the workshop to show you how huge it is. The bird at the top is a stork, if that gives you any indication.
The sculptures in the facade represent several centuries' worth of additions and restorations (those done in the 19th century were badly done indeed, but unfortunately, they too are now classed as antiquities and cannot be removed!). There are several scenes from the Bible and the history of the church (martyrs, mostly), and the central panel shows the stoning of St. Stephen (San Estéban).
I can't remember what I did to the photo in pp, but presumably I sharpened it (I sharpen stuff a lot) and played around with color saturation. Looks like it, anyway.
