Photographer's Note

During the spring and the autumn sunrise in Spain is very late around 8 am. The pilgrims who stay in the albergues (hostels) over night must leave before 8 am so the owners have enough time to clean the rooms before new arrivals. Well the first few kilometers pilgrims walk in the darkness before the sun start to rise. Most of the time they walk to the west and they don't pay attention to the sky, but if they stop and turn 180 degree they can often see the sky like this one.

This photo was shot 237 km (148 miles) from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and 527 km (329 miles) before Santiago de Compostela.
