Photographer’s Note

This is one of the most beautiful places of Cocoland: Santa Cecilia.
Well, really this hermitage doesn’t belong to Cocoland, really belong to a very very nice village called Barriosuso. But this village is what we call a “pedanía” the don’t have cit hall and they depend of another village. Then, that’s the reason why I put this hermitage in Cocoland.

Time ago it was a mediaval village and its name was Tabladillo. But even time before it was a roman settlement. But even time before (no, it’s not a joke) there were “celtíberos” (that’s the name we give to the people who lifed here and who were mix celtics and ibers).
We know about them due the archeology.

But I not interested in the archeology. I love this place: the place is amazing and also strategic and that’s why so mamy people settled here. From this point you can control all this important valley, Tabladillo. This is the center, the heart, of this valley. And from above this giant rock you can see the people who come from the extrems of the valley (from Santo Domingo de Silos in the East, from Quintanilla del Coco in the West) and also the people who crosses the beautiful mountains of the South, the Cerveras mountains.
The history and the beauty of this place is amazing. I could tell much more about this place... because we see a “mozarab” church... this is not neither romanesque. And this church has an amazing door: it has five archs, all of them romanesque (they were added in the 12th century, but the church belongs to the 11th century) and the real door of the hermitage is after the main arch; and this little gallery is covered with a small roof repaired in the 19th century by people from Quintanilla del Coco.

Some of the most important places you can reach from here, and I mean only in the valley (it is only 8 km): Cocoland, the Churrión, the Cerveras mountain, the Mataviejas river and its mills, the Royal path, its forest, the hermitage of Santa María de las Naves and, I should say it, Santo Domingo de Silos.

Come here and enjoy!!
