Photographer’s Note
Working, yes. Working wicker.
This woman has more than 70 years and she is working.
Try to imagine how is the life in this kind of villages, as Quintanilla del Coco.
Old people need make something. If not, you would have a really boring life. Then is necessary be an active or lively man or woman.
But when you are an old person perhaps is not easy make a long walk at the evenings. Then you can do another kind of activities.
And that’s what you can see in this shot and also you will see in anothers photos.
This woman is making a wicker basket.
Is something traditional from this place.
All natural.
The woman (nowadays you’re going to see only her hand... in a few days you’ll see the woman) was placed in a little room. The door of the room gives directly to the street and she only works when still has natural light (in that room there is no electricity).
And someday, was obvious, you’ll see the place where is that room.
Until then, I hope you like it.
(in two days a new photo about this woman, but tomorrow... no)

Hola Carlos:

Wow, I didn't know they still have traditional craft like this in spain. I really like the picture and capturing her hand holding it really adds to the story. Really would like to see how she looks like. Hope the picture that will be up 2 days time will be of her. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful picture.

Hi Carlos
Nice insight into hand made crafts in this part of the world. It's nice to see that the traditional crafts have not all died out. The picture, with just the arm revealed is a good approach, which taunts the viewer to see more. Nice mood conveyed by the black and white medium and good framing.

Hola Carlos

Ola Carlos,
Back home with the same pain in the sciatic nerve: Perhaps I must rest at home and do nothing.
I am sorting my Barcelona pictures and you'll start seeing a few soon. Mostly combining architecture and people. In the meanwhile I look at this one which has the beauty of BW,and pretty light, the arm and the old craft OK, but I am under the impression that I would also like to see the second working hand.
Un abraço - Izzet

Hola Carlos,

Sergio
