"siempre llueve sobre mojado" Photo

Photographer’s Note

In Spain we say "siempre llueve sobre mojado". Well, that's exactly what happened yesterday: it snowed where there was a lot of snow (I know, that's not exactly the meaning).

And well, it was taken two days after the big day!! And two days later it snowed again!!

That day, the day I took the photo, it was a very cold day. That night we had -20º C and the moment when I made the photo -8º C.

I was walking for a few minutes and I reach this point in a crossroads. I caught the tripod, the camera and I shot a few times.
This is one of the pictures and this photo is, somehow, the real winter in hundreds of Spanish villages... at least, this year.

Another wonderful snow scene. I like the two small places where the low winter light is illuminating the landscape. They really catch the eye. I also like WS1 a lot and think you could use it as a main post another day.

I thought we were supposed to be having global warming? Now I see that there is snow and -20 in Spain! Snow can be very beautiful, and really changes the landscape, making everything lighter, and also helping to define objects like trees and buildings more. Thanks for sharing!

the last ray of light on a mountain with fresh snow is an eyecatcher, for sure... and compliments for the photojob, a hard one, I know how it is when the cold hurts beyond the nails of your fingers :)

Hi Carlos,

That patch of sunlight in the far background does it all for me. Brings life and colour in the picture, exactly what it needs in these cold winter.
Very good composed landscape, love the way how you build this up with the little town in the lower section...

very nice winter scene. Even shooting in the shadow, the luminosity is excellent. I see all the details of the small village and the mountains in the back. There is an effective winter atmosphere in this one. Very good work!

aiiii... cada vez que veo fotografías de éstas me imagino el frío que debe hacer por ahí... pero bueno si el resultado son estas fotografías, pues valen la pena!

La foto me gusta, pero me quedo con el WS I y el WS II sin duda! Son más tuyas y más complicadas! Yo antes hubiera puesto el WI como foto principal, pero contra gustos...

Espero que estés bien, y a disfrutar un montón!

Hola Carlos, I choose this series of 3 as the best winter post of yours so far. Wonderful white view of the mountain and houses. I can feel well the freezing temperatures. Love the warm light touching the highest points and giving some color to the winter image. Very nice complementar photos, including the artistic approach in WS2.
