Photographer’s Note
I know what says the TOS about this kind of photos.
But let me say why this photo.
A few days ago I was in Burgos and I saw inside the San Juan Monastery (I think that it was the name) a kind of exposition.
Was very fun.
All Burgos was plenty of flowers.
The first industry of this little city is the turism and its cathedral the main factory.
But the city hall thought that could be interesting give a little present to Burgos.
What kind of present?
There was a campaign called “Burgos, ciudad de las flores” (Burgos, city of the flowers). This campaign wanted make a good promotion of this city.
There were flowers everywhere, but not only flowers.
Inside the monastery and also inside another historical buildings and gardens there were musics.
And that was nice.
Some people in the city didn’t like the campaign and the city hall changed the name (“Burgos ciudad paisaje”/"Burgos landscape city"). Even there was angered people.
But, I am sure that was a good idea.
Many people of Burgos began to walk searching the monasteries, palaces, gardens or buildings with musics, also searching the squares or streets. And colorful flowers everywhere.
The main square had clothes made with flowers!!
Then, the people said: “this is ugly”. And, even if it were true, all the people talk about the streets and squares of Burgos and visit them.
Only a problem: out of the city no one had any notice or new about the slogan “Burgos ciudad de las flores”.
But still I haven’t said why the rose.
Inside the San Juan Monastery there were two young and pretty musics (perhaps the 21th of July I will post some photos of them). And also inside the monastery there was an exhibition of... BONSAIS!!!.
That’s fantastic. Burgos, the old Burgos, a new center of fresh and new culture.
Even you could vote your prefer bonsai (tomorrow I will post as WS some bonsai).
And between the bonsai... the lonely rose.
And another reason for post this photo is that just today, a rose was an important element of an exercise that I’ve done in the postgraduated course that I am doing.
I hope you like it.
WS: the rose with frame
WS: clothes made with flowers
WS: a little bonsai
WS: another and more little bonsai

Exelent picture, I never saw a black rose but this looks nice.
I was so close to burgos but never stop there, however this is a good excuse to return to Spian and visit this place, even I want to visit the monastery of silos close to burgos.
Thanks

Hi Carlos, this is a great image. Even though colour is probably the essence of a rose or any other flower, this is a very striking image - precisely b/c one is seeing a rose without the visually appealing colour, one is forced to notice other details, in this case the beauty of form itself. Vey unusual and interesting!

Hey, Carlos
Very, very interesting note! But, at the same time you made me a little bit upset. I just came from Spain and didn't go to Burgos (:
Excellent b/w composition, very striking and sharp. Bravo. A+++

Wow, a very theatrical photograph. The background is perfect and good idea to turn this one in B&W. I like it very much!

This is really well made, Carlos. I like the use of DOF, the special way in which the light enhances the detail, and the unusual yet effective choice to post a rose in b&w. Considering your additional workshop photos and the great note that you wrote, you should not have any TOS-related worries about this posting.

Oye, pero no son bonsais, son cactus ¿no? Yo por bonsai entiendo otra coas. ¿Has ido a votar ya? ME gusta esta rosa, es bonito el blanco y negro, hace que la flor parezca más roja. Un abrazo.

You already know what I will say about the B&W. However,I must say that the detail and sharpness you have achieved in the petals is very good, and the light has provided excellent contrast. Is the background cloudy sky?

Buen trabajo Carlos.
Un saludo.
