Photographer's Note

According to tradition there were two masters of geometry , one Roman and one French , who directed the construction of the medieval wall that lasted nine years, something unlikely . Consider that there was an older first wall and that it is a "living" building, with numerous additions, renovations and repairs.

The factory is not uniform and depends on the canvas that you contemplate . In general, and especially in the eastern observe canvas at the base , the predominance of gray granite stones . They are arranged in rows but not available or dimensions coincide . This is because they are REUSED pieces, many of them from any previous Roman buildings that have been dismantled. Impediment had not even use the old cemetery tombstones from that era , it is believed , was localized in the Basilica of San Vicente.

From a very thin line , the wall without recreció stone carving , orange granite is also prevalent in the side turrets. The remaining large joints therebetween are filled by smaller wedges . Some holes you care at these meetings are premeditated : allow the important nesting colony of swifts we have in the city.

At this end of the set, the fence is crowned with battlements series of masonry . Most of them uniformizaron a double slope roof restorations made in the early twentieth century.

It is believed that most of the towers are solid , filled with stone and lime mortar but there are also colmatados ground . For now, the only thing looks like it was designed to house a hollow guard was one that compose the Puerta del Carmen.

Yet questions remain about other places where surveillance and access walkway was made from inside the city since no indication of preserved ancient stairs .
