Photographer’s Note

One of the fine examples of Mudéjar architecture is the monastery of San Juan de los Reyes in Toledo. Mudéjar combines aspects of Islamic architecture with aspects of Christian architecture. Many of the buildings of southern Spain were built by the occupying Moors, and after they left, taken over by the Catholic Church, which made additions and modifications to the existing structures.
