Photographer’s Note

This small cove is located near the fishing village of Santillana del Mar and gets its name from the shrine which is just opposite. This shrine is very curious because of its location. It lies inside a cave and only be visited when the sea is calm and low tide because when there is very big tides the road leading to it is hidden by water. Cliffs along this creek are those obtained from fantastic sea views.

It is a very quiet and little visited by tourists, because until recently the beach was in a very accessible and known by very few people. In fact, the road leading to it is a district and before there was any indication, so this beach only enjoyed by the locals. However, two or three years ago made a public car park next to the beach, which is very comfortable, but this beach has lost its charm as a wild environment.

The hermitage of Santa Justa is believed to have been inhabited by a hermit (from the eighth century and X) that migrated from areas that had suffered the Moorish invasion of Seville where they were possibly the remains of the Santa Justa y Rufina.
