Photographer’s Note

From the westcoast of Tenerife it is 28 km to the island of La Gomera and you get some terrific sunsets over the Atlantic with the mountains of La Gomera in the background. And this is a fishing boat returning from a good day's catch judging from the seagulls that follow it (probably to profit from the fish being cleaned on board and all that lovely seagull food being thrown overboard).
I only cropped slightly (to eliminate a streetlamp that had found its way into the lower corner) and sharpened with PS. I had the camera on a tripod (on the balcony of a hotel room - where else). The focal length is 168mm.

Welcome in the "Sunset club" Per ;-) I think you also some horizontal photos of this beautiful sunset!!! - But you done right in choosing this shot with the fishing boat as an extra element. I like the haze which shows the mountain in silhouette and soft line between the water and the background - Thanks for you note (I would like to spend 14 days at this place too - lucky you ;-)

I cheeked the notes about picture treatment (here) and it seams that a slight "Touching up" allowed - so may be you could have used a clone tool to remove the lamppost effect.

It's a pretty scene you captured here, Per. In the foreground, I like the classic view of the fishing boat followed by a flock of gulls, and the slight orange reflection on the rippled ocean water. Towards the back, I like how the view gets hazier and slowly merges into the silhouette of La Gomera, topped by the nice sky. As Jeppe pointed out, usually on TE we see sunsets in horizontal format, but why not post one in vertical format like you did - I think it really works! Good shot, well done.

Meget smuk komposition Per, og det er interssant at se en fiskersbåd som "hovedperson" i solnedgangen i stedet for de sædvanlige træer eller bjerge (kun delvis ironisk ment). Bortset fra baggrunden minder det mig om udsigten fra Knudshoved.
Jeg synes billedt har fået lidt for meget Sharpening, det begynder at se lidt grynet ud. Tip: når du har brugt et filter i Photoshop kan du i Edit menuen finde et punkt der hedder Fade [navnet på det netop brugte filter] hvis virkningen var for kraftig.
