Photographer’s Note
Is this what it looked like in those tragic minutes on Boxing Day on most of the shores of the Bengal Sea? Our forefathers never tired of reminding themselves that the sea is our foe as much as our friend. This week the entire world was reminded of that sad fact. This photo is just a snapshot of a happy moment watching Atlantic breakers breaking on the shore of Tenerife. But even at that place there were four crosses reminding tourists that lives are lost to the sea all the time. I wonder if we will ever be able to look at the ocean without thinking of last Sunday. And the world has learned a new word - Tsunami!

When its happy, its nothing but a curiosity. These poor people received ton of water infiltrating strongly everywhere.
This is a sad week.

this is a great shot of the big waves good for surfing but am sure what had happen last sunday is far more greater and horrifying. thanks for the good note of a reminder. I once been to Phuket and I really enjoyed it I can't imagine myself very happy beacause I am in paradise then after a minute am suddenly in Hell. what a really tragic happening. so sad that death toll crossed the 100K....rgds

My thoughts go out to all those people who have been affected by the tsunami that has caused so much devastation across South East Asia.
This is a fine tribute to Tsunami Memorial Per.

Very nice picture with great colours. The light is maybe a bit strong in the right corner, but the light and the water on the rocks and on the wayes and around the people is very nice.

Great shot and note. Did your PP add the pink color to part of the wave? I like the streaks of light, and the wave spray frozen in motion.

This really gives me the shivers, Per - but I'm nonetheless glad you posted it. The backlight creates some interesting special effects and colors on the drizzling water, and seeing the folks there - in the wake of recent terrible news - adds a sense of drama that must have been totally absent from this original scene.

Excellent, the light the dynamic waves. Maybe also showing a bit of foolishness of those people sitting and standing there. But it certainly gives the photo more philosophic load that fits your note.
