Los Jameos del Agua is a part of a volcanic tube formed by the eruption of the volcano of the Dome, more than 3000 years ago, when the flow of lava resulting from this volcano went to the ocean.
When the lava stopped flowing, the cavity kept, forming a natural site of a big beauty.
Caesar Manrique, architect of Lanzarote (1922 - 1992) highlighted this grand site by installing, among other things, an auditorium.
In this place, we see the thickness of the volcanic tube the top of which collapsed and was removed. |
