Faro de Toston - picturesque lighthouse located on the northwest tip of Fuerteventura, not far from village Cotillo, at Punta de Toston. Located in an area of white sand beaches and small secluded coves, the lighthouse area is a wonderful place for walking, wathing, swimming. The lighthouse sits among brown - black pointed rocks that litter the coast. During low tide You can walk hundreds meters on the rocky shore with small pools. The lighthouse has two different towers, old one was completed in 1897, the new and higher one in 1986. Each tower is made of a different material, which contributes to the unique look of the lighthouse. When I saw photos of the ligthouse done 5 years ago, there was a high wall with barbed wires around whole object and old building of the lighthouse including old tower was nearly destroyed. Now whole lighthouse is renewed and there is fishing museum in the old part. Unfortunately, the musem was closed hen I was there.
