Antigua is one of the oldest villages of the island of Fuerteventura, is situated in the center of the island framed by mountains.
It was founded by Spanish colonists and French in 1485, and was the capital of the island in 1835 who were dedicated to agriculture and livestock, mills built at the time, symbols of Antigua served to pump water for irrigation in agriculture.
The only monument of note is the church of Our Lady of Antigua built in the late eighteenth century.
