Photographer’s Note
This photo was taken a few days ago in one Mediterranean island... Menorca.
Their white houses are very very famous... and somehow they look similar to other Mediterranean style, the Greek one (I mean in the Kyklades).
But, please, don't mind of which one is better or if there is one better... if you come to Menorca, simply enjoy the island.
And also, much more important, if you visit Menorca you should be ashamed of no visit Formentera (it's a joke).
Now, more seriously, the name of the village is Binibèquer and time ago it was an old and ancient village of brave fishermen who risked everyday their lives.
But somehow, nowadays the only memory of these old days is the turistic route to German and British tourists.
It's a pity.
I hope you like it.

Hola Carlos,

Hola Carlos,
Your note is very interesting. While I don't quite understand the joke, I understand the way tourists now see these historic and vital islands to the Mediterranean culture and way of life. For eons the people of this island eked out life by fishing, now people from other lands and other cultures come for the sun and relaxing views. No work involved, hardly a thought of how this place came to be such a calm, relaxing vacation spot. And thank goodness there are lots of British pubs!
That is not a bad thing, though, because everyone needs beer - from the thirsty fisherman to the vacationing businessman!
I visited Mallorca and some of the small port on the Cote d' Azur and was probably just as guilty as the next tourist to being ignorant of the culture, but the wonderful water, beaches, cliffs and architecture was not lost on me - I always looked forward to my ship stopping in Spanish ports.
You have captured the ambiance of this place with just a few rooftops. Very good color, the whites are as white as they should be and the sky is a wonderful blue, just as it should be, too.
Great capture!

So....... you prefer the tiny island of Formentera!? .... less commercialised maybe.....? I don't understand the joke either!
Not easy to frame the mulitude of roofs and white buildings, but this framing works well. I think you set the white balance too warm as the whites are quite yellow. I opened it in Lightroom and reduced the temperature by -10. The clouds are still not quite white but any more was making it too cold looking. I put it in the WS. See what you think.
btw you have a dust on your sensor - see under the black window on the right.

Hola Carlos ,

This is a great shot for typical Mediterranean island.
Very nice composition, specially color contrast and balance are beautiful. This color contrast is very suitable for this season.

Ciao Carlos,

Who cares if this place is in Greece or somewhere else. The most important is that this is a very nice place with very interesting architectonic and a nice blue sky with the perfect light.
I like how you manage the light, which is not very easy with a such a strong one, giving in a perfect way the sense from the surface of the walls.

Hola Carlos,
Ben feta.
Una abraçada,
Josep
