Roasted suckling pig is a traditional Mallorcean speciality dish. In the Mercat Olivar indoor market in Palma pigs are laid out on display ready to be bought and taken home or to a restaurant for roasting. Know as Lechona asada, at Christmas time roast suckling pig is in nearly every restaurant, and one way that it is cooked is with honey, lemon and thyme which makes for a delicious dish.

I have to say that i really didn´t like the theme on the good quality photo you posted. I know some people eat pig meat and most of them don´t ever seen a pig besides in the market shelf.
To me this photo shows a dead animal with a tag in the ear and a look in the eyes that transmits the sadness of the situation hapenned to him.
Did you ever though of making these kind of shots about other dead animals? Like cats or dogs or horses or even humans? To me would be so horrible as this one.

Casper, I am in broad agreement with some of Daniel's comments but your response to him is spot-on!
There is a naivety and a hypocrisy around this area. It's OK coming from someone whose actions back their words - ie vegetarians, but not if they eat meat. Like these people that get all sentimental about the dogs and cats that are eaten in some countries (or the horse and rabbit they eat in Belgium and France) but are then quite happy to eat de liddle baa-lambs on a Sunday.
In the theme of TE's mission this is a valid shot, and technically it's good too.

Sin entrar en controversias religiosas la imagen me parece muy impactante y de mucha fuerza expresiva. Excelente calidad técnica.

Certainly an interesting image. I read all the comments before writing this. Not only are we perhaps too far removed from the reality of killing animals for food, but a lot of people on these photo hosting sites may be too used to seeing only pretty shots of beautiful landscapes and places. Reality is a lot different, so I'm glad you uploaded this image. The color and light are excellent and the image is very sharp. The reflection of the eye adds a lot. The stamps and the tag in the ear make you think about how we kill animals for food and that it is an industry in which these animals become commodities. Very evocative. Makes one want to think about becoming vegetarian. Well done.
Best Wishes, Walter
