Photographer’s Note
View of Cap de Formentor; a spectacular bluff in the northern coast of the island of Mallorca. The small island 'Es Colomer' and further away, behind , the Cap de Formentor with its lighthouse. This is an amazing and wonderful area which belonged to Miquel Costa i Llobera, a beloved poet, born in Pollença. His poem 'El pi de Formentor' is a beauty written in the variant of Catalan language, mallorquí. The breach of Formentor is unique. The pine trees are just close to the beach with a white sand. In the area, covered by mediterranean pine trees, you can still find very easily the 'bocs', autochthonous wild goats. In 1928, an Argentinian, Adam Diehl, who fell in love with this part of the island, built the Hotel Formentor. From the lighthouse, in a clear day you can see the coast of Menorca.
