The cathedral of Oviedo (cathedral d'Uviéu in Asturian) is a cathedral of Gothic style that one finds in the city of Oviedo, in the Asturias, Spain. It is known also like sancta ovetensis, refiriéndose to the quality and quantity of the relics that it contains.
The Asturian king Fruela I (from 757 to 768), gave the orders to construct a church in the area where today one finds the current cathedral of Oviedo. The church devoted itself to San Salvador.
It is of Gothic flowery style. There has documentation of the 15th century with which there is demonstrated that there was employed at her) Bartolomé Solórzano, architect proceeding from Trasmiera (Cantabria) and that it had intervened already in the cathedral of Palencia.
Exterior
Gothic tower with a skilful retranqueo of his five bodies. It is the only tower since other one could not be constructed for lack of budget. Famous tower in the Spanish literature of the 19th century since she is one of the inert protagonists of Leopoldo Alas's novel "Bugle" The Wife of the regent. From his height and with help of a telescope, the city was monitoring Don Fermín de Pas, the Magisterial one.
Portico formed(trained) by three doors that correspond to three ships. The doors are of walnut of the 18th century. Both leaves of the door of the center are dedicated to San Salvador and to Holy Eulalia of Merida, both employers of the cathedral and of the Asturias. One accedes to the temple for the door of the left side.
Interior
The temple, of plant(floor) of Latin cross, originally was possessing(relying on) a head-board of staggered type, a semicircular central apse flanked by other two minor apses; in the Baroque this zone of the choir reformed partly to construct a deambulatorio with radial(road) chapels. Organized in three ships, the head office(plant) broader that the laterales, the cathedral equally presents chapels opened between(among) the buttresses, architectural habitual solution in this type of buildings. The supports that separate the ships and support the vaults are of type fasciculado, formed(trained) by big stony worn out blocks like bunches of faeces; in gathering, the temple presents a tripartite clearly valuable organization: Arcades of separation of ships (ogival and molduradas), triforio (formed(trained) in pairs of vain, sets with sinuous tracería and breastwork of cigar I am used flamboyantly) and claristorio with glazed large windows. The vaults that cover the diverse sections are of crucería, though of great given complexity the advanced chronology of the building.

A sight of the cathedral together with The Wife of the regent (Mauro Álvares's sculpture), both ladies of Oviedo.
Walking along the streets of Oviedo it is not difficult to imagine Ana Ozores being monitored from the top of the tower of the Cathedral by his(her, your) confessor, the magisterial canon Don Fermín de Pas, escaping of his(her, your) husband Víctor Quintanar to meet his(her, your) lover, the lady-killer provincial Álvaro Mesía.
The Wife of the regent is the Leopoldo Alas's first novel "Bugle", published in two volumes in 1884 and 1885 respectively. Considered the greatest work of his(her, your) author and of the novel of the 19th century, in addition he is one of the maximum exponents of the naturalism and of the progressive realism. In addition, it(he,she) incorporates a new technology(skill); the technology(skill) of the dream or to flow of the recollections.

Charo,
Your composition and POV are great here showing the statue as well as the cathedral. The fence creates a nice diagonal through the shot giving the photo a sense of direction. The lighting and colors are fine with excellent sharpness and DOF.

Very impressive building and i like the way the shape of the tower get repeated at the statue. I think i would choose to take it one step to the left to avoid that the statue get in front of the doorchurch. Still beautiful.
Best regards

Hello Charo.
A nice perspective with this statue well-decentered on the foregroud. I like the slash iron rail, giving perspective to the shot, and the church's tower against the sky.
Well done.
Best regards.

Hola Charo,
a wonderful clear combination of pleasant sharpness. The POV leads to a very nice composition which opens a lot of details for us. The aperture of 14 is the right to get good details everywhere. Well done.

Hola Charito:
