Place : Oviedo/Cathedral San Salvador

Theme: Trip to Peaks of Europe (IV)/Oviedo

The cathedral of Oviedo is the city's most distinctive and impressive building with a tall spire that extends skywards and dominates the old town.
Constructed of large, and almost white stone blocks, the cathedral makes an immediate impact with everyone who sees it as it overlooks a large square, "La plaza de la Catedral".
The history of a place of worship on this spot goes back well over 1,000 years to the days of the Visigoth empire and King Fruela.
The first church to be foundered here was built in 765 AD, but it was destroyed by the Moors before the turn of the next century.

excellently composed picture and nice combination of beautiful architecture and so lovely ambient light,which creates here so unique mood.Superb quality of the image especially when we take into account the fact that you took the picture from hand.Colors are captivating,natural and with good contrast.

Olá, amigo Filipe,
no conozco Oviedo, pero esta catedral es magnífica, y nos ofreces su bonita arquitectura mediante un buen encuadre, en una elegante toma a la hora azul.
Me gusta la luminosidad de la foto, su nitidez, la calidad de los colores, y especialmente, los reflejos de las luces de las farolas sobre el suelo de la plaza, que proporcionan un bonito toque estético a la composición.

PS: me preguntas sobre el inapreciable nivel de ruido en mi última foto nocturna, y así es como ha quedado con ISO 3200, no he tenido que hacer ningún proceso para eliminar ruido, porque el alto rango dinámico de la D7000 permite este tipo de tomas, con buena calidad. En Lisboa también tomé fotos en la noche con ISO alta, sin trípode y con alta calidad.

Night scene on a dark Plazza in town, but it enhances the old-time ambiance over the place.
Must be an impressive clock-tower to see on daytime.

You're capturing well this cathedral by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see old cathedral with and dignified shape tall spire. It's impressive in wide square in front of cathedral. And, the light draws out an additional good atmosphere.

Hi Philippe,
I like your excellent composition with the square and the majestic church. The blue hour mood with the dark blue sky and the street lights is perfect.
Only, if I can give you my honest critique, what I don't like is the buildings alignment. The buildings on both sides are leaning inward (caused by your wide angle lens) which is a bit distracting this beautiful image. This can be easily improved by photo software (Photoshop or similar).
Otherwise very nice work.
