Photographer’s Note
This statue represents Pelayo, king of Asturias (VIII century) and it's located in Gijón's port. In one hand, he holds a shield and in the other, a cross. Due to carnival festivities, the statue is usually disguised in different forms. This year, he has received a Brazilian and 'woman' touch.
Esta estatua representa a Pelayo, rey de Asturias (siglo VIII) y está situada en el puerto deportivo de Gijón. En una mano, porta un escudo y en la otra, una cruz. Cada año, durante el carnaval, la estatua es vestida de una forma cuando menos peculiar. Este año, le han dado un toque brasileño y femenino.
