Photographer’s Note
The Praise of the Horizon is a work of Eduardo Chillida, who is in the hills of Santa Catalina, in Gijón.
The Praise of the Horizon is designed from a model of small format, which has grown to reach 10 meters tall and weighing 500 tons, to be located at the former military site in Cimadevilla recovered in the eighties.
Is made from reinforced concrete pillars that act as carriers of an open ellipse. With your arms warm and robust and yet lightweight, the praise seems to want to go fly. Air and sea craft to travel in the imagination. Bare walls, cold only in appearance. The sky is the common roof of this house, inside which the music sounds like wind. The Praise of the Horizon is also the praise of nature, on the promontory where twenty centuries ago people took root and the limits of their chosen home.
Its author, Eduardo Chillida, born in San Sebastian in 1924 and died in 2002. He received the Prince of Asturias Award for Arts in 1987. There are sculptures in cities like yours Frankfurt, Helsinki, Dallas, Paris, Houston, San Sebastian, Dusseldorf and Berlin.
It is a privileged place for observation of the whole council of Gijón. From here you can see the neighborhood Cimadevilla first, the widening area of the city's eighteenth Jovellanos (Instituto street, calle de la Merced, etc.). Eastwards, the beach, the area around the Arena, and finally Somió neighborhood, the park of Isabel the Catholic and the house of dreams for the writer Rosario Acuña.

Alberto!!!
Saludos
