The distinctive yellow flowers of Rudbeckia hirta or Black-eyed Susan thrives the world over. These particular blooms in a raised and terracotta tiled flowerbed, were in the churchyard of the Iglesia de Santo Domingo de Guzman in Benalmadena Pueblo. This church is the oldest in the municipality of Benalmadena and is built on the site of where historically the town was born.

Hello Brian ,
Wow ! I like that . The architecture , and the splendid composition , with the pine trees , the flowers , and the curve of the red alley in the FG .

What a lovely composition, full of charm and atmosphere. The curved shape of the little brick wall, the bending tree and the attractive bunch of colourful flowers are a wonderful introduction to this picture. The white church stands out beautifully against the clear blue sky, and the play of light and shadows gives a really nice touch to the scene. A perfectly executed image with excellent sharpness and depth of field.

this picture is of superb quality - my sincere congratulations! The vertical format has been great choice for this scene and the way you used the terracotta curve and bright colored flowers to create focal point in the foreground is very eye catching. The tree frames the image in very pretty and natural way and the church in the distance despite small size is very charming and interesting.
Great colors and contrast, super sharpness.
Thanks for sharing

A very attractive composition with lovely rich tones. Perfectly composed with the brick path directing us toward the lamp and the church. Excellent light management.

Good Morning Brian,
The richly coloured tiles, with associated toning flowers, makes an expressive curve to lead towards focal, beautifully detailed church. I just love the inclusion of the tree, which is very important in the overall composition, anchoring the f/g and overhanging the whole scene with its natural framing.
Have a great week,

TFS - congrats,

This is lovely Brian - The orange 'Black-eyed-Susans' and rustic red bricks make a super FG detail and their warm colours tie in nicely with the terracotta pots standing either side of the church doors immediately adding depth and dynamism to the shot. The church itself is attractively projected against the blue sky and the contrasting warm and cool tones are super.

I like the way you've displayed a small church, and the title also.
Romano46 (18472) 2014-03-31 10:07
Ciao e buona settimana

Learning from each other has to be the best element of this website, and this has taught me a new view wh I have to admit, I would not have to take. A perfect compositn taking in this fine terracotta curve (that would also be a good name for a band) as well as the fine detail of the church. Depth of field has been shared between oth important elements perfectly well. Nicely done, if I had a beard I would be scratching it thoughtfully looking at this and admiring the choice of view you went for.
Thanks as always

this is such a beautiful composition! Brilliant idea to use the bricks in the foreground. I think I will steal this idea in the future. It makes a great curve, plus you have also these lovely flowers, and the bent tree, and a wonderful sky. This makes all a fantastic presentation of this little charming church. I love it!
HimalAnda (10671) 2014-04-01 11:58
The composition is very good. The curve on the foreground drives the eye toward the church in the background. Well done!

what can I say more than a masterpiece!
It´s really great how you used this curved pavement to build the whole perspective and visual impact of the scene. And apart from that I enjoy here these trees making really nice natural frame for the church.
Have a nice day

I didn't care much for Madrid but southern Spain was wonderful and here is yet another reason why. Love the curving terracotta path and strong warm cold colour contrasts between the blue sky and red tiles. Well composed with the tree at right partially framing the bg church. Tfs!
taypejka (1689) 2014-04-02 9:40
Very rich composition and attractive angle to shoot the photo. Great vivid colours. Generally speaking a very charming place.

Sharp and clear, colourful and well composed with nice textures and contrasts bewtenn colours and areas of light and shade. All the key elements of a well crafted image created with a photographers eye. Good low viewpoint and love the way those flowers "pop" in the FG.

Beautiful, the little church and the foreground with the curve of bricks and the little flowers. The sunlight really makes them stand out. A well thought composition, with very good colours!
jmdias (68691) 2014-06-08 12:41
