Architect's Garden
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
In Arabic, "architect" is "al-arife," and the "Architect's House" just east of the Alhambra has become known in Spanish as the "Palacio del Generalife." Other meanings for the name have also been suggested. The rulers of Granada used the house to relax away from the rigors of the court. The house, nowhere near as decorated as the Alhambra, has been altered a number of times, so the original design is no longer known. (Source: Alhambra de Granada)
This is a view of the garden, with the fountains turned on.

Hello Daniel: Wonderful and original shot of the Generalife. I like specially the magic of the water drops. Nice work.
Saludos,
Pepe
Hi Dan!
Great capture from one of the most beautiful places I have visited in my life, this photo brings back great memories! wonderful perspective, excellent framing and composition, I just wish you had taken it a diferent hour of the day, having also the beautiful building on the background nively lit!

Hello Daniel,
I've been to the Alhambra, but I didn't know of "Palacio del Generalife." You offer a taste of the beautifully preserved palace in this symmetric perspective. Personally what I like most is the continuous streams of water displaying the clear parabolic trajectories — something that Leonardo and Galileo got right, but Aristotelian physics had dead wrong. They thought that a projectile, when launched, would go off in a straight line, then curve downward and plummet straight down. Your choice of vantage points was exquisite — simple and elegant.
Warm regards,
Bulent

beautiful perspective here, Dan, and I agree with Bulent that symmetric streams of water make it especially captivating. your point of view creates a very strong sense of presence, and the fast shutter works well to freeze the motion of the water. very nice shot.

Kristine

hello daniel
alhambra's complex truly is a masterpiece and a very photogenic hallmark. interesting, i was not even aware of this 'architect's house' used as a retreat from the court... the relative lack of decor, i guess is symbolic. your note puts this post in the right perspective. TFS.
warm regards,
kristaps
ps. i do agree with the others, that in this case, the symmetry of the parabolic fountains is a bit chopped off on the left.
