This is the Cathedral of Granada, also known as the Cathedral of the Incarnation (Catedral de Granada, Catedral de la Anunciaciˇn), it is located in a charming square in the middle of the old part of the town. This part of the city was among my favourites in all my travels. It is surrounded by spice bazaars, wonderful tapas restaurants and flamenco dancers performing in the street. In fact, I very nearly didn't take this shot as I was reluctant to leave my comfy seat where we relaxing at a restaurant to the left of the frame, sipping on cold beers (that's wheatjuice for you, Noel) and munching on seafood tapas.
Upon the overthrow of the Muslim Nasrid Dynasty, construction of the cathedral began in 1492 and over the many centuries had many different architects and accompanying styles. The internal design is quite unusual and majesty of it all left me a little breathless.

Very nice picture at the blue hour. I like the management of the cramped space with the artist in the middle of the frame. The light management is superb. Very well done.

Perfect exposure for this lovely animated blue hour composition. Fine colour contrasts and excellent detail. A superb environment for beer and tapas.

Gidday Madona Lisa,
Impressive twilight wide angle view of the Cathedral of the Incarnation, an immense art architecture front, 3 arches reaching heavenwards, 8 rose windows, and all in fine resolution.
I too would enjoy sitting outside, amazing at this masterpiece.

Now if I look up the word majestic in a dictionary, this is the picture I would expect to find, what a place!! It is imposing, bit not an evil scary way, just in a "come here and admire my awesomeness" kind of way. I have not heard of this church before, but the joy of trekearth is finding new bucket list entrants and these rises the ranks quickly for me. The light is perfect, the colors superb, and the point of vi you chose outstanding.
I am glad you left those cool wheat juices for a moment to take this, superb photo.
Mmmm, wheat juice....,
The lights at each side give this a very old world feel, they are like torches on either side of some ancient place. And bonus points for the musician, sitting there chilled as you can get, and making up part of this epic view.
Bravo for this, a beauty.
All the best from the damp, and slightly warmer because it's July, rock.

Ciao Lisa,la foto sembra un po' scura ma hai fatto secondo me la scelta migliore per non bruciare i lampioni laterali, prospettiva impegnativa e non facile, con un effetto avvolgente sicuramente vincente, grande architettura! Buona giornata,Luciano

well, i'm glad you got up off your butt to capture this one! haha :)
no surprise to me to hear that you were sipping on bear and taking in the views from the restaurant near by
...man, you and Tosca would get along so well!
I'd be walking around taking pictures everywhere.
this guy in the middle of the frame looks kinda out of place, sort of looking like his date stood him up but he's clinging onto any amount of hope he can muster up.
seeing the people sitting on the steps really puts into scale the size of the doors and the Cathedral itself, pretty impressive!
thanks for this one.
see you around

Ciao Lisa, beautiful blue hour shot. I stayed in the hostel very near this cathedral, on the other side of the bigger street (the hostel with passionate lovers in my dormitory:)). Unfortunately I haven't been inside, it was closed. But I visited Capilla Real with tombs of Catholic Kings. And yes, I ate delicious gazpacho, fish with green sauce and even dessert somewhere on the left. I even remember this spice bazaar. But for blue hour I climbed the hills - one day Alhambra and the second day - Albaicin.
Warm regrads MAlgo

An interesting foreword supported by a rather enchanting huge building with a commanding view. Well shot symmetrically together the warm glow is simply lovely in the evening light that you have brought out to your best all the wonderful detail in the stonework and a visual delight with lot more to appreciate and take in. There's so much of delicacy and religious ambience to savour the senses, skillfully captured. Congrats

This is a moody photo, with the buildings all leaning over the square and the deep blue sky behind. Good capture of the details of the cathedral facade and nice lighting.

Love this capture! The main facade of this impressive cathedral looks here so elegant and classy taken under the blue hour lights and colors. True beauty! Perfectly seen and taken from a well selected POV which wasn't an easy task:) TFS!

Ciao cara Lisa,
A very interesting note and a spectacular photograph to accompany it.
I can fully empathise - who would wish to leave seafood tapas and some cool beers just to get up and take a snapshot? But this, of course, is no snapshot but a beautifully composed image taken during the magical "blue hour" with a subtle and gorgeous mix of natural and artificial lighting which brings out all the beauty and intricacies of the facade of this fine cathedral. The groups of tourists sitting on the steps of the cathedral add human interest and the lone guitarist is a fine foreground feature too.
Lovely light and colours, perfect composition and fabulous technical quality.

Thanks for showing this. I could see it from the Alhambra but never got to visit it close up or an interior shot. Looks majestic. Good sharpness with nice warm vs cold colour contrasts and the people add scale. Perspective has been well managed in this wide angled view. Tfs!
