Overlooking part of the southern Spanish city of Granada from the Alhambra Fort. It's highly recommended to book entry tickets by internet a day or 2 before, as I did, because tickets often sell out completely by 10 to 10:30 am. This is the Arab quarter of the city. It was once ruled by the Moors from neighboring Morocco and has some of the finest Islamic gardens and architecture in the world. They were expelled from Spain in 1492.

I don't think our photos have been neighbours before!
I only vaguely remember Granada and the Alhambra from a trip in 1977, but of southern Spain in general I still have strong memories of the bright Summer light reflected from so many buildings like the ones seen here, and the haze over the bare, distant mountains. Your brilliantly sharp shot from a strong vantage point only makes me want to get out my old box of slides again... but it'll pass, get swamped by too many other things to do.

Spectacular panorama of that splendid part of the city. The white walls are providing a perfect contrast. Well taken scene.

This is a wonderfully extensive view across the city to the distant hills. The sharp f/g, giving way to a hazy view of the hills, suggests a hot day.
I was most interested to see this. Until my early teens, I believed the Alhambra was just the local cinema and not a very smart one, at that! How interesting it was to learn the true history of the Alhambra. Maybe, one day, I will see it in reality ... til then, thank you.
My warm regards,

Une bonne vue plongeante sur la ville qui nous propose beaucoup de choses à regarder. Ta photo me rappelle de bons souvenirs de cet endroit que j'ai visité il y a un certain temps.

The wideness of this area of the city is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the détails and colors of the houses, of the buildings and of the church. I like the contrast between the colors of the scene. Have a nice day.

Hi Chris, I follow your incredible trip with great interest, waiting impationetly what will be the next. Incredible view of the town, so sharp and clear till the horizon. Fantastic.
It is well worth thinking in advance and booking tickets in internet. You avoid the queues and often it is the only possibility to see something. My son wanted lately to see Bauhaus Villa in Brno that is on Unesco list. One must book tickets two months before for the specific day and hour.

a shot with so much to look at and all so distinct and clear. Full of the wonderful colour and character of this region of Spain. Irresistible and beautiful imagery!

I am late, please no so many fphotos
I know, I believe from witch part of La Alambra you take the photo, I was there years ago, at the back near the Generalife?
Like the charming and original views of the old tiles roofs of Granada along with the white walls
Enjoy your week end, wherever you are now

Merhaba Chris Bey,
I love the bird's eye view of the city and beyond. This is postcard-perfect. Now, I know, to some, comparing a TE entry to a postcard would be an insult. However, I beg to differ, I consider it a praise and meant it that way. I think the irregularity in the scenery is captivating. The buildings look haphazardly erected and yet, just like fractals, an overall orderliness prevails nonetheless.

I also have visted Granada twice and needed to spend there at least 1 month or two to appreciate more local life. However I made a tour to Sierra Nevada I was lodged in Granada. I have visited Alhambra. At the time I was there there was no digital photography. I even remember that at night the wind wishle with a sound caracteristic of the cold nights. It began snowing. I like the landscape you present here with so many houses in a day apparently very hot. The green of the trees match nicely among the white of the houses. Warm regards. Domingos

what a beautiful and interesting city! I like very much this comprehensive view from an elevated vantage point that allows us to see a large area of the city and have a glimpse at the landscape beyond it. Depth and clarity are exquisite and there's a delightful vibrance created by the repetition of architectural patterns, by the luminous whites and the bold contrasts. I love looking at the houses and trying to imagine the details and atmosphere in the hidden streets of the picturesque city. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,

another fine photo from your recent travels, actually now that I look at it more closely, this one was taken 14 months ago.
what I like about this shot are the same colored rooftops that dominate the entire scene from side to side and front to back.
there's a hazy sky in the bg but the light everywhere else looks clear and warm.
excellent point of view for the city shot.
