Still on the hunt in Granada. Quite by chance on our last night there, we saw crowds gathering along the main streets. It turns out they were waiting for a procession through town of the competitors in a motorsport competition. This seemed to have involved both off-road SUVs, and cross-country motor bikes. So here's an experimental tracking shot with my little Ixus, with blurry Granadan Xmas decs in the background. I think this counts as winter sports OK, even though he's not actually engaged in it at the time of shooting.

Fun shot, Richard. I like the blur, especially on the lights in the background. Nice too that you can just barely make out the people and the buildings in teh background.

thats a good one, i am going to have a series on "tilted" pics as well in the future; love this shot of action; on the first sight i was having doubts about the cycler being unsharp, too, but after a longer while i found it quite pleasant

Not a bad 'panning' effort. It's much harder to do than it looks. Everything has to be perfectly 'in synch', for perfect sharpness.

Good action shot from this street Richard. Of course even more sharpness on the rider had worked, still impressive in the light and I guess the long shutter speed.

Nice pan and good colors! I like the way the people are lining up along the street, and the fact that they are out of focus keeps it less distracting and therefore keep me, the viewer focused on the bike.

Happy new year to you too!! again, well I like the pic, it is blurred but I like it, maybe panning on a tripod would work well with you

And you got the colored velocity here very well with the Ixus, only a few technical well equiped camera's would be able to get a sharp fixated target but then again they loose something from the movement too. I hope I may encourage you a long way in 2005.

Given the spontaneity of the situation, I think this is a fine result you got Richard. The motorcyclist stands out clear enough against the blurred background, and compo-wise it is of course good that there is space at the left for him to drive into. Also a nice effect from the various lights in the back.
