Photographer's Note
Hello friends and colleagues, today I offer this overview of the two ponds in the beautiful grounds of the gardens of the Alcazar of Cordoba, lovely gardens that will show here slowly, then some letters on the history of the Alcazar. Hope you like.
The Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, is a military building ordered built by King Alfonso XI of Castile in 1328, on previous constructions (the Moorish Alcázar, the former seat of the Roman governor and Customs, located in one of the margins Guadalquivir River), in Cordoba, Spain.
The Alcázar is declared of cultural interest since 1931. It is part of the historic center of Cordoba, which was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1994.
After the Spanish conquest of the city the site occupied by the old Boniface IV was divided between King Fernando III, the bishop, some noble and the Order of Calatrava. Fortification was determined between 1328 and 1329, by the Castilian king Alfonso XI, on previous constructions.
Hosting kings in their stays Córdoba, Ferdinand and Isabella spent more than eight years on the strength leading from it, the campaign against the Kingdom of Granada. In these same units (Tower of Homage), Christopher Columbus asked for maritime venture funds in 1486, and saw one of his sons birth, the Infanta Dona Maria, future Queen of Portugal. After the campaign of Granada and the completion of the campaigns against the Muslims in Spain, the Catholic Monarchs gave the property to the church authorities, which made him the Holy Office, then losing his palatial character. In 1812, after the abolition by the Constituent Cortes of Cadiz Court of the Inquisition, became civil prison until 1931, was devoted to military installations, which cedideron it in 1955 to the City of Córdoba.
The architectural ensemble has a sober on the outside and inside superb, with magnificent gardens and courtyards that maintain a Mudejar style. It is topped by four towers (Paloma, Lions, and Inquisition Tribute), giving the building an almost square.
The main hall of the building, built in the eighteenth century, is called "Hall of Mosaics", since it is possible to admire the stunning mosaics found in the late 50s in the square of the Loch and were part of the circus Roman and a third-century sarcophagus.
In the basement of the existing plant is still possible to find remains of those who believe they were real bathrooms used by dignitaries from the Muslim era.
The old Huerta del Alcázar has become an impressive area of approximately 55,000 m² of magnificent gardens with species such as palm trees, cypresses, orange and lemon trees, surrounding some elegant fountains and ponds.

Bonjour Angel
Bon samedi

Attractive composition, good postcard from Cordoba. I see you have got warm weather on April. Just the summer colours! I have plans to visit Spain on late April- early May. But I think, Andalucia is so far from Madrid.))
Best wishes from Russia,
