Hello friends and colleagues, today I present another picture of a street in the city of Medina Sidonia, a city of history, in the province of Cádiz, hope you like it, then some letters on the city.
The city of Medina-Sidonia is a Spanish municipality located in the center of the province of Cádiz, Andalusia. It belongs to the region of La Janda.
Is a Historic-Artistic and Cultural
The mountain on which it is located is called the Cerro del Castillo, which is the highest elevation of the entire western third of the province, from the foothills of the Sierra de Cadiz to the Atlantic coastline, allowing you to be spotted since an important part of the province, offering, at the same time, the extraordinary panorama of provincial surface. The city is oriented towards the Bay of Cadiz, which is why it is known as the Balcony of the Bay.
A small part of the municipality asidonense belongs to the Natural Park of the Acorns, one of the most valuable areas in terms of nature and landscape concerns in Andalusia. The term also hosts much of the route of the Green Corridor of the two bays, a greenway linking the Bay of Cadiz and Algeciras Bay.
The first settlements in the area of which we have evidence, dating from the Late Bronze Age. Found in the Cerro de las Madres a lot of fragments of handmade ceramics and some stone tools. It seems that these people were in relation to culture tartésica.5
Then takes place the arrival of Phoenician colonists from Sidon, which will found a city (with the same name as their city of origin) on the basis of earlier Indian occupation.
In the third century. C. Romans occupy the entire peninsula was formerly in the hands of the Carthaginians. Around the first century will build a new town center that will occupy the entire space of what is now the Historic. By Augusto César Award, the city promotes its former municipal status and becomes entitled Roman colony (civitas optimo jure). It was known by the name of Asido, Caesarina, or completely as Caesarina Asido Augusta. It was situated in the Province Ulterior Baetica, belonging to legal convent Hispalensis (with capital in Hispalis).
In the Visigoth Hispania was also provincial capital and episcopal see of the Catholic Church, then known as Asidona, suffragan of the Archdiocese of Seville which included the former Roman province of Andalusia in the diocese of Hispania.
In 712 the city was conquered by Musa ibn Nusair, commander of the Umayyad Caliphate, at the beginning of the Muslim conquest of the Iberian Peninsula. It was the capital of Muslim Cora Cora called Sidonia (also known as Arabic Saduna شذونة). Alfonso X the Wise recaptured the city on September 22, 1264, occupying the border against the Moorish Kingdom of Granada, which is why it appears in a medieval document with the name "de la Frontera".
At the time of the Reconquista was home to several military orders. These include the Order of Santiago and the Order of St. Mary.
In 1440 became part of the Lordship of the Dukes of Medina-Sidonia.

Medina Sidonia is one of the wonderful pueblos blancos I've ever visited.
Here you show us one of the simple but very beautiful streets. Very nice with the curve on the slope.
I especially like the black wrought iron work at the balconies and windows of these white houses.
Also a good inclusion of the lamp at the left.
Best regards, Paul

The square frame makes for a pleasantly balanced composition featuring these attractive whitewashed houses. The man hurrying home with his shopping adds a touch of vitality to the image. I like the lighting and the excellent detail.
willperrett (11918) 2013-11-01 7:58
Lovely perspective here, with the corner of the street just asking us to pop our heads around the bend. Nice colour harmony too, and not over-saturated as so often seems the case these days. Of course the figure adds a necessary element of life. Good work.
krzychu30 (15512) 2013-11-01 8:18
the combination of white architecture and blue sky couldn´t be more captivating-that´s really magnificent!
But I like also your timing and inclusion of this man, which brings some "life" to the scene.
Nice and atmospheric composition!
Wish You a pleasant weekend

Your photograph presents a very attractive place.
The light, details and movement of the persons give to the viewer a feeling about the atmosphere of that street.
Very well done.

Ciao e buon fine settimana

nice scene and well caught. At the first sight it might seem to be quite boring but then one discovers details which make the whole composition working very well together: the stylish lamppost, lonely pedestrian, purplish flowers on the roof...
Very nice work with good colors and light.
Thanks for sharing

Nicely composed image that makes good us of colour, light and sahde. The man adds a focal point of interest for the eye and the splash of pink flowers above contrasts so well with the blue sky.
TFS - have a good w/e

Hi Angel. What a history! What a photo too with its brilliant light, wonderful architecture and details. Excellent choice of POV which provides a decisive curve to an image which would otherwise be full of straight lines. The local man going shopping is of course a great addition. Regards. Klaudio.
carlo62 (55684) 2013-11-01 16:55

Hello Angel - Crisp white contrasted by a black trim and wonderful shadow areas makes for an appealing shot. A lovely composition and very attractive little street. I just love the weeds growing out of the gutter against the clear blue sky. I can imagine myself walking down here quite easily. A super shot. Warm regards Rosemary
Kugart (1778) 2013-11-02 2:35
Nicely composed shot of this little narrow street with its wonderfully sunlit white houses and contrasting black iron grills on the windows.nice low POV looking up the curved street. Love the way the roofs intersect and the wild flowers on the roof on the left hand side is magical.
Like it very much.
Have a good weekend.
CLODO (35938) 2013-11-02 2:53
Ths spanish light illuminates the whites houses of the street and a pedestrian prefers to walk in the shadow.
Good every day street life.

White town typical Andalucian, well collected and managed its strong shine on daylight.
Superb clear image, every iron-lattice on balconies and windows clearly shown.
The man walk down the alley is a nice bonus collected.

Nicou (151990) 2013-11-03 6:42

Awesome presentation of local flavor! The street is so narrow. I like the architectures and they look so clean. Good lighting and sharp details. Nice to have the person for scale. Well done, tfs.
Royaldevon (43899) 2013-11-03 10:33
A really strongly composed shot containing an excellent lead line and well positioned focal features.
The shadows create wonderfully contrasting areas against the white facades of the houses. Very sharp details.
My warm regards,

macjake (73059) 2013-11-05 9:00
I really enjoy this one with the man walking down the street for an addition focal point, makes a fine presence into the scene.
and of course the strong whites with the black Iron looks attractive too, but i wonder is it decorative or is it for safety!?
love the light fixture at the top left too.
Cricri (126690) 2013-11-05 10:46
ChrisJ (118861) 2013-11-06 10:32
The solitary man striding purposefully down the street with a green shopping bag animates the street-scape. Good sharpness and I like the splashes of color added by the flowers and plants growing in the guttering atop the buildings. Tfs!

npecanhuk (78903) 2013-11-12 9:46
That's another style of façades / architecture, but the its charm has also conquered my heart, as has this photograph as well!
Sharpness, exposure, colors, vertical format, contrasts, chosen pov and composition are all excellent!
TFS - congrats,

So, they call the historic towns medina in Spain, too? I have been trough a few medinas on my travels through Morocco. The curvature of the alley is very pleasant and the presence of the pedestrian brings both dynamism and a sense of scale.
ourania (51103) 2013-11-16 5:59
you created a very lovely and interesting composition to offer us a faithful representation of this picturesque alley. The upward point of view and the use of perspectives are excellent. The curvy right side is illuminated while the left side is in the shade. You've balanced the illumination of the both parts very aptly, making the view comfortable and delightful. There's superb definition and the colours are very agreeable. You've included the passer by with remarkable readiness, even the way he's walking is perfect for your composition. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,
SWEETFREEDOM (24621) 2013-11-17 4:54
