Hello friends and colleagues, today I offer another picture of the view of some details of one of the entrances to pátio the iconic landmark of my city, The Cloisters of Santo Domingo (a former convent), hope you like it, then some letters about its history.
The cloisters of Santo Domingo is around cloisters of s. XIII in Jerez de la Frontera (Andalusia, Spain).
Originally linked to the Church of Santo Domingo, became civilian use after the confiscation of Mendizabal in the s. Century, and therefore is managed independently and autonomously.
It is one of the jewels of Gothic architecture in Andalusia and a space for cultural use of first order in Jerez.
The origin of the cloisters dating from the Almohad fortification extramural that King Alfonso X gave the order dominica in 1264. The Dominicans were expanding the resort and in 1436 they began the work of the cloisters, concluding in 1595. The confiscation of Mendizabal in 1835 led to the expulsion of the Dominicans and the civilian sale of that space. In 1983 he became municipal property.
The Cloisters are defined with the classic square structure with a central courtyard distributor dependencies.
The cloister stands on two floors and hallways are covered by cross vaults simple. The upper floor is simpler, with recessed arches own XVI century.
Cloister High: s. XVIII.
Bedroom Under: s. XVI long narrow room where the monks slept.
Refectory: Renaissance vaulted room. Had more than three hundred monks.
Ribadeneira Diego Oratory of S. XVI. The gate dates from 1572.
Home Almohad: visible only remaining primitive Islamic building donated by Alfonso X the Dominicans after the conquest of the city in 1264.
Confessional: oldest monastery confessionals.
Thank Gate and Chapter House.
For damages in structure, the building remained closed for rehabilitation of 1999-2012.
This restaurant has not been without criticism. During the works there have been findings, such as the appearance of some 5,000 vessels which are being cataloged by staff of the Archaeological Museum.
The Faculty of Nursing is still in rehabilitation.

Beautiful isolation of this part of the building and its fine detail. The light has illuminated the exterior perfectly, while the shadow inside the doorway makes me want to go in and explore what lies inside. Love lead in with the tiled floor too.
All the best

The tight framing and symetrical view make an excellent presentation of this entrance. The light allows for sharp details in an image of very good quality.

Hola Angel, my today's neighbour on TE.
Marvelous taken the typical gate of the cloister, saw a similar work in Lisbon and with other TE member's work.
Fabulous carved art elements in the Ghotic style. Good light on, and fine sharp details. The shaded area inside were under mild light.

very nice the close up view of this section of the cloister as we can see a lot of its details. The two pots decorate perfect the entrance with the brilliant light to enhance the dark parts of the interior of it.

The Moorish influence is very evident here. I saw lots of similar architecture in Cordoba and Granada. Impressive and great that the Spaniards kept all this superb Islamic art and architecture, rather than demolish it, which unfortunately has happened in other places around the world. The repetition of patterns both in the fg tiles and the arch add interest. Tfs!

La simetria de tu foto sobraya aun mas la riqueza arquitectural del portal, con estos motivos tipicos del estilo gotico. Las dos plantas añaden un poco de vista.
Un abrazo de Francia,
