I show the view of the angel from the cathedral of Cadiz but of course I am thinking about our friend Angel, who was like an angel for me. After visiting Cadiz I went to Jerez de la Frontera and to my horror, Internet was not working there. And I had the telephone number to Angel in mail. How stupid of me. So the first thing to do was to find wifi. I went to the Festival of Horses area and I found it. Uff... We made an appointment in the center of Jerez the next day but Angel made surprise and found me in my hostel when I was having breakfast. And he recognized me there. Amazing. And then took me to the town on his motobike. I was so scared! But also it was great fun.
We spent the wonderful day in Jerez with his wife Toni admiring marvelous jacarandas in blossom everywhere and beautiful monuments. - Alacazar, Cathedral and Santo Domingo Cloister. Thank you Angel for your warm hospitality and friendship.
From Wikipedia: Cádiz Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church in Cádiz, and the seat of the Diocese of Cadiz y Ceuta. It was built between 1722 and 1838. The Plaza de la Catedral houses both the Cathedral and the Baroque Santiago church, built in 1635.
The church sits on the site of an older cathedral, completed in 1260, which burned down in 1596. This largely baroque-style cathedral was built over a period of 116 years. Though the cathedral was originally intended to be a baroque edifice, it contains rococo elements, and was finally completed in the neoclassical style. Its chapels have many paintings and relics from the old cathedral and monasteries from throughout Spain.
In the crypt is buried the composer Manuel de Falla born in Cádiz. Poniente (or West) Tower, one of the towers of Cádiz Cathedral, is open to the public and shows panoramas of the city from on high.
Apparently I was not well prepared. I didn't know about Manuel de Falla and didn't climb the tower :(.

big Angel fan me! I love the feeling that they are here on Earth looking out for us and find sculptures and artworks so fascinating. This is a real beauty and a wonderful tribute to a TE friend.

An interesting capture this with lots to see and the angel providing a fine focal point. Well exposed with excellent detail. You are right about Queen Victoria, her statues invariably show her as a serious looking elderly lady; I think it is because like the one in Malta they were often raised to celebrate her Golden and Diamond Jubilees when she was getting on in years. The one in Liverpool is an exception to the rule.

Congratulations on image focus of the angel statue appearing to float out among the ornate architecture, especially the Corinthian columns, and on meeting a modern day Angel.
