Experiences of crazy traveller.
I came to Malaga by plane from Bratislava. The next day early in the morning I went to Jerez de la Frontera. But I thought I could visit Cadiz as well. So first, I went by train to Cadiz. I hoped that I could leave my luggage at the train station, but there were no lockers or cloak room. Anyway, I couldn't find it and even asked, they said there were no. What to do. I had to go for sightseeing with my two backpacks and camera hanging on the neck. The day was very hot and sunny. Cadiz is not so small. There is a maze of narrow streets and I had no map, so I lost my way from time to time. I visited many places and was rather exhausted after that. But in air conditioned train I had relax, then I have a bit rest in the hostel in Jerez, so in the evening I was as new and could see the Horse Festival.
Somewhere in Spain when I was looking for my hostel, I bumped unexpectedly on my friend from Warsaw. Seeing me, he exclaimed: Hi Malgosia! You look like sandwich squeezed between backpacks.
No wonder that I travel alone :)
This is the view of the main square in Cadiz.
In beta it looks oversharpened, specially the palm leaves, in main page lack of sharpness. I will leave it as it is, but i am not glad.
Do not worry too much about me :). My backpacks were not heavy - I went by Ryanair with only hand luggage.

Oh, the troubles of a lone and crazy traveller! That must have been awful having to walk long distances in Cadiz in the hot sun with two heavy backpacks - and a camera too. Glad that you managed to cool off later in an air conditioned train.
This is a lovely photograph of Cadiz's main square. All the people seem to be enjoying the heat and the sunshine biut I don't see anyone with two big backpacks here - they all seem to be travelling very light.
Your composition is excellent and we can appreciate just how hot and sunny it is. Lovely strong light and colours, perfect exposure and excellent details and sharpness.

the groundfloor and the walls act as big reflectors under the bright sun of Spain. A few tourists walk on this large place, looking for shadow and air oonditionned shops. Look, the palm trees don't give too much shadow.
In summer, in the afternoon, only tourists visit Sapin, they (the spanish people) have a nap to take the best on the cool night.
So I imagine you with your 2 big rucksacks and camera in hand!

a beautiful vibrant place and the sun is shining warmly creating great light and a lot of extra effort for the bag laden traveler :) I know the feeling of lugging around bags in the hot sun and its not easy! I am glad to see out did not prevent you from capturing this beautiful scene.
Have a great day

Your story about the lockers makes me think back to several similar experiences I had in Spain in earlier years.
I was told then that the reason for the absence of lockers in railway or bus stations lies in the past, in the seventies when there were terrorist threats, mainly bombings. I'm not sure if this is the real reason but at that time I've also dragged around with my luggage because I couldn't deposit it somewhere.
I thought that this was changed in the meantime. In Madrid you can deposit your luggage in the Chamartín train station and in the Méndez Alvaro bus station.
Cádiz is much too big to drag around with your backpack.
The square you show here is a magnificent place in the heart of the city. Beautiful buildings all around, a Mediterranean atmosphere with the huge palmtrees and always very lively.
Here we can see clearly that Cádiz is a white city. Somewhere in town there's a viewpoint on the roof of a museum. From there all you see are white buildings.
Best regards, Paul

A nice little anecdote to accompany this well presented composition. The gleaming white buildings contrast nicely with the majestic palms and sit well against the peerless blue sky. I like the animated atmosphere and the all-embracing point of view. Good technical quality.

interesting title which all becomes clear when reading the commentary accompanying this beautiful image from Cadiz. Clear blue skies and a beautiful mix of architectural elegance amidst the palms. Wonderful!
It looks hot!
Enjoy your weekend - B.

Nice repetition of the palm trees which add a north African look and feel. Excellent density levels and perfect exposure and sharpness. The people add scale and enliven the scene. I like the harmony of the 3 towers in the composition. Tfs!

great note, those are the type of notes I enjoy writing :)
Its wonderful to add your own fun experiences like that with the photo.
So who did you run into? anybody we know from TE?
you mentioned you were tired, thats hard to do! :)
glad to hear it all worked out in the end.
this shot here looks like it had some pretty harsh lighting, perhaps a few hours later in the day it would have softened up a bit for you - but I think you were always on the move.
lovely architecture. and who doesn't enjoy a palm tree every now and then!
fun story to go along with this

Now these are the hardships of a lone traveller but you where still able to present us with a gorgeous view on Cadiz main square. The strong southern light, the imaticulate blue sky and the palm trees evoke a true feeling of holidays and the building is impressive.
have a great weekend

Une très belle photo, digne de cette très belle place de Cadiz. Que dire de cette lumière superbe qui fait bien ressortir les détails ainsi que de ce superbe ciel d'un bleu pur.

Oh, what a story. Only you could behave like that :-). But I enjoyed reading about your adventure.
In spite of the heat and the loads you managed an excellent photo. Yes, it is oversharpened, but the view is so nice and the composition so good that you are forgiven :-). Fine buildings, lots of people and a very good exposure in the obviously very harsh light.

Interesting Cadiz view, across the palm tree plaza surrounded by attractive architecture, blends of Romanesque, Georgian, Baroque, etc. I am especially attracted to the main building's middle and end towers, very elaborate.
And your method of travel sounds worthy - carry-on luggage staying at hostels, etc. I personally use a large backpack to haul my camera equipment, food snack, water, etc., when traveling.
Thanks for sharing Walking Sandwich,

Good morning Malgo,
What an ordeal you went through, made the story interesting, but almost ruined the trip.
Wonderful main plaza scenery on the white town, exquisite architecture's, palm trees gave the much needed green, and people stroll about.
all culminate wonderfully on photo.
Cheers and thanks for your concern, we are OK.

Hello Malgo - Hats off to you for carrying 2 backpacks and a camera, you put me to shame! I moan about carrying a tripod and camera backpack, you are obviously one very fit and determined (and a little mad perhaps) lady.
Your shot does look a little over-sharpened by I like the open and airy feel of that which you present here.
Warm regards and take care

Hi miss Malgo,
Ahaha, "Walking Sandwich' I love that title...it immediately caught my attention! :) Your notes provide the kind of interesting and personal attachment to the imagery, and lend so much more appeal to what's being presented...especially when it comes with a good sense of humor too. :)) Experiences of the crazy traveler, indeed.
I can just imagine you trudging around town with all of your baggage, but being a trooper the entire time and still enjoying the experience with camera at the ready. I know I said it before, but please....take it easy on me & Serghei, yeah....I don't have the same amount of energy I used to!? lol
A lovely display of the palm filled square, which gives us a wide open view of the space and welcoming atmosphere under that sun filled sky. Beautiful architecture, but most importantly, a relatable and amusing story. enjoy the rest of your evening. Take good care.

Cara Itchy Feet
Oh, you poor sandwich! Carting around the luggage in the heat, how awful, but something you will never forget. Were you in Spain without Lazy Feet? Very brave of you. A beautiful scene. Yes the pals look a little oversharpened, but I think that is due to the harsh sunlight. do not worry, the scene is beautiful and very dynamic. I regret not making it to Cadiz. We spent too much time in Malaga, Granada and Cordoba! Ahh the eternal problem: too many beautiful place and too little time.

Ladna seria z Kadyksu. Miasto łupione od poczatku swojego istnienia, historia mogłoby obdzieić kilka innych. Dzieki za pokazanie

From the title, I was expecting to see one of those people that carry advertisements on the back and front. Reading your note, I see that the walking sandwich refers to you. From the looks of it, you were not the only one having to lug around luggage, there is purple luggage being pulled on the far right.
Beautiful architecture, a lovely sunny day recorded in a well taken photo,
