Photographer's Note
We had delivered the British Olympic Star yachts (overland) from Santander to Cadiz for their Winter training, and had a day or so to look around afterwards. Inevitably, we gravitated towards the largest edifice in the town, the cathedral.
The church sits on the site of an older cathedral, completed in 1260, which burned down in 1596. The reconstruction, which was not started until 1776, was supervised by the architect Vicente Acero, who had also built the Granada Cathedral. Acero left the project and was succeeded by several other architects. As a result, this largely baroque-style cathedral was built over a period of 116 years, and, due to this drawn-out period of construction, the cathedral underwent several major changes to its original design. Though the cathedral was originally intended to be a baroque edifice, it contains rococo elements, and was finally completed in the neoclassical style. Its chapels have many paintings and relics from the old cathedral and monasteries from throughout Spain.
In the crypt are buried the composer Manuel de Falla and the poet and playwright José María Pemán, both born in Cádiz. (Wikipedia)

Hello Will,
I am becoming more and more convinced that it is the lighting and the way in which the photographer makes the very most of it which makes a great photograph.
And you have certainly captured the most beautiful light in this one. The low winter light illuminates the sides of this magnificent building, "modelling" and "sculpting" its every feature perfectly. The light on the trees is beautiful too and, of course, the presence of the new Moon is an added bonus!
Beautiful colours, perfect exposure and stunning details and sharpness.
An interesting note tops it all off perfectly.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

The placement of the moon really lifts this shot upa step further, Will. I really like the lines of the towers and trees, and the off-kilter angle creates a sense of height and upward perspective, but the moon placed between the trees acts as a really ideal focal point. Lovely shot.

Hi Will
Groovy POV, obviuosly done so you could get that beautiful "child's moon"lurking in between the palm trees. The baroque (?) architecture has been detailed superbly and I love those excellent colours that have not been washed out in any way, despite the light and your difficult POV. Nice work!
Cheers and have a beautiful day

Hello Will,
I like this composition because of the bold low-angle shot and the good graphical reached effect.
The architecture of the Cathedral is outlined with an interesting escape of lines on a blue very aesthetic sky, combined with the palms and the presence of the moon.
The ensemble is very pleasant at sight, has a good light and a few managed-well colors.
A great work.
Best regards,
Josep
