Photographer’s Note
My version of framed Piran - as seen from ancient city wall tower on Mogoron hill. City of Piran itself is like a window into the past - authentic jewel of medieval architecture, remained untouched over the centuries...
The oldest Piran centre was surrounded by walled fortifications probably already in the 7th century. A part of the walls, which surrounded the oldest part of the town near the cape (the first town walls), had not changed over the centuries; it only needed to be thoroughly renovated on several occasions. In the final phase of the expansion, at the beginning of the 16th Century, the so-called third town walls embraced the entire peninsula. The largest preserved section of the walls on the Mogoron hill has exceptional historical value and marks the limit of the medieval town centre. It may be seen in this photo.
The town walls were eventually completed between the years 1470 and 1534 and had eight crenellated towers with battlements. The external side of the walls indicates a typical defensive setting with a slight angle. It is also remarkable due to its exceptional height. A few years ago, some parts of the towers and the connecting walkways were renovated, so that the walls are today accessible and can be visited. The Piran town walls were built gradually, the largest one in the time when the way of waging battles was changing dramatically, due to the use of gunpowder, which required new ways of defence. According to its shape, it is obvious that the town walls were being adapted to the medieval type of defence. Seven town gates, former entrances to the town walls, are still preserved.
Pseudo-HDR from one RAW image to highlight stone textures. Advantage of pseudo HDR over real HDR (from several shots) here is that tree leaves are not blurred. Hope you will like it.

Another great "piranian" shot, Vilius. Based on your pictures I told my wife yesterday that the next time we go to Europe Slovenia will be part of our itinerary. I love the small detail of the churches tip being exactly at the sea's horizon.

Hi Vilius!
I have a big wish! Is there a possibility i could use few of your photos (especially this Piran) in promo video i am making? I love your photos and they will look great in presenting Slovenian beauty. I can't offer you money but you would be mentioned in credits.
BR and thank you,
