Photographer's Note

This is the largest natural permanent lake in Slovenia, measuring 318 ha. It is 4100 m long, 1200 m wide and 45 m deep. Is the largest permanent lake in SloveniaIt is located in the Bohinj municipality in the north-west of the country, and is inside Triglav National Park.
Lake Bohinj lies between Bohinj's mountains, which rise from 1,600 to 2,000 meters, and is Slovenia`s largest glacial lake. It is 4.2 kilometers long, one kilometer wide, and forty-five meters deep.The main tributary is the Savica that springs at the waterfall under the rock wall of Komarča. Lake water that flows in from numerous other sources is restored three times per year. Water level rises 2 - 3 m at heavy rainfall. In summer, the temperature of the water rises to 22C, in winter - Bohinj Lake often freezes.
Saint John the Baptist Church
This little church with it's wooden porch and frescoes, standing beside the stone bridge at Ribcev Laz is one of the iconic images of Lake Bohinj. If you are staying in Ribcev Laz as we did then it also offers a good reference point that you can use to head home! It's often only open short hours at many times of the year and it seems that these do vary so it's best to check the sign on the door to see when you can go inside. It's only a very small church and so looking inside only takes a few minutes, but I think it's worth sparing those few minutes. The exterior frescoes have been worn away in many places but a few can still be seen for what they were meant to be. Interestingly there is a figure with six toes on one foot on the south wall.

Wow ! What a gorgeous composition ! We could say here , that we have not the entire reflections of the bell tower , but the reflections are so beautiful . We coul say that the light was not the best , but the cloudy weather provides a splendid ambiance . Of course , the superb church in this moutain scenery is a great subject , but you've excellently framed it . The swan is a real bonus .

Wonderful! Its a picture postcard I would like to treasure. Despite the apparent lack of light (presence of clouds in the BG), the clarity in this shot is excellent. The diagonal of the trail eft by the duck creates a good interest as well.
Did you use HDR in this shot?

Hello Gregg - This is superb. What can I say? The atmosphere with cloudy sky and dull light is wonderful and I doubt that a shot taken on a clear and sunny day could hold a candle to this one. Hello Grezgorz,

When I see this image, it takes me to a land far far away from a long long time ago, okay, that soundes like a fairly tale, but that this what this image bring to mind. A fairly tale setting, I expect the prince and princes to get on the boat at any minutes now :) Really beautiful photo even with this gray clouds, it is still can't hide its charming quality.

Excellent photo quality as well, with really good compositioin and the time is perfect with the swan adding the charm and romantic feeling.

The reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The distance between the duck and the church is giving depth to the scene. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the church. The cloudy sky is giving a good contrast to the colors. Have a nice day.

Th dominating green color in the water is eye catching. The distance in the water gives deepness toward the tower which is well framed in the image. The low hanging clouds give a special mood. Very well done.
