‘Piran - Evening fun on Tartini Square’

Piran is an old Mediterranean city.
The rich history and the beautiful medieval architecture can be found in the narrow streets of the old town. Also on the central Tartini Square (Tartinijev trg in Slovenian or Piazza Tartini in Italian) where you find the red Venetian House (Benečanka in Slovenian), a charming palace built in the 15th century, with a richly decorated exterior and a splendid Gothic balcony at the corner.

The Cathedral of Saint George is built on a hill and overlooks the complete old town that is one big open air museum.

nice shot
it got my attention right away from the small thumbnail gallery because of its colors and the blue skyline.
there are lovely pale greens and pastels too.
fine inner city shot with activity and architecture.

Hi Paul, Haha, Tartini Square in Piran. Last year I had booked a hotel in Piran. I wanted to go there by bus from Rovinj. And I was amazed to learn that there were no bus connection between Croatia and Slovenia. can you imagine this ? So I had to go by bus as close to the border as possible and then to go on foot something like 8 kilometers to cross the border. And police stopped me on my way asking what I was doing there. But I came in the evening to Piran and could see Tartini monument on the square, amd even was on the hill. nice light blue hour shot.

Excellent light management in this blue hour shot. There is a sense of a stage, with the blurred image of some of the individuals creating the sensation of suspended time.

I visited Piran some 12 years ago and I was bewitched of the beauty of this small pleasant town (that used to be a Italian one till 1946).

I like the flawless light management and POV.

Not without reason, Piran is called the Pearl of the Adriatic. Photos been from a very low POV showing the evening enchanting city square, surrounded with magnificent homes and churches, in pastel colors. A long shutter speed advantage of this image.

This shot renders a cheery feel, an exciting low light night shot but with sufficient warm glow to lift the spirit. I'm sure you are more than happy as you have captured the mood of the evening pretty well.Excellent exposure for the natural and mix light conditions and the low viewpoint is effective while keeping the point of interest, the prominent bg building brightly lit and in sharp focus. Enough contrast to the night sky and excellent effect by the slight motion effect and the sparkles. Great effort under this circumstances but with an appealing shot no doubt. Well done Cheers!

Marvellous warm cold colour contrasts between the blue & amber in this superb 'blue hour' shot with good motion blur of some of the people, who animate the scene. Excellent sharpness & lighting contrasts. Good graphism & a nice low shooting angle. Tfs!

Hi Paul,
the beautiful medieval architecture that you have caught in this framing is outlined in a very rich composition graphically.
I like the lighting of the tower and of the buildings, with a few soft tonalities that they create a nice contrast with the sky at the blue hour.
People adds a great vitality and a good dynamism to the scene, caught with a good skill in a beautiful photo.

Attractions of crowded people interested in a good environment surrounded by historic buildings illuminated evening view in the dark tawny earned a fantastic feeling. .

Interesting ghost effect thanks to the slow shutter speed. Like the lit up square & more so the lit up clock tower which looks luminescent against the blue sky. Very nice shot thanks to the choice of a low POV

You're capturing well this place by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the attractive medieval architecture faced to sqaure and the sqaure with the vigor for which many residents have gathered.
