Photographer’s Note

I`m not (yet) completely insane, so about the title:

I went hiking with my father today, around the hills of Menina Planina. The goal was to capture a couple of sunset photos. He knows his way around, cause he`s walked here a million times before, so as we passed a part of the woods (although it was a clearing:>) named Limovska planina, some ten minutes from where this photo was taken, he asked me if I knew why "Limovska" - well, it made all sense to me that it`s a Slovene personal name in origin, but it`s really named after a French captain who fell there during the Napoleonic wars, fighting the Austrians, Prussians or whomever. His name was Limogne, Lemone, or LeMon, or something phonetically similar to Limovska in Slovene. I really have to keep notes next time. :)

So while the engines of time churn on, while Napoleonic empire is long gone, you know why the title.

Hey Miha
I couldnt keep away from the camera, I am seeing parts of the country now so hence the repsoing. Excellent mood here and this is a perfect winter scene with the pure black trees and snow hills. The reflection adds depth while the water looks freezing, a fresh image you can say.

Dragi druže Miha,

pravo osveženje na minus 10 stepeni sa fotografijom koja to odlično dočarava. Osim posebnog trenutka i kompozicija je sasvim dovoljna da ti kažem da je fotka vredna pažnje. Utisak je potpun sa tekstom koji sam pažljivo pročitao. Vrlo zanimljivo, posle dugo vremena, eto tebe među nama i zbilja se vrlo radujem.

Puno te pozdravljam i pripremi se za zimu. Izgleda da će da potraje ove godine.

Good morning Miha,
a cold Winter shot,-10°C,brrr when here in Athens we have 18-20°C. A characteristic picturesque scene with the reflection of the tree on the little frosen pond.The light snow and the silhouttes of the trees make the scene a litle bit wide.Well done.

Živjo,

res? -10 °C? Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...to pa je mrzlo. Brrrrrrrr...ampak kljub mrazu ti je uspelo narediti odlično fotko.

Glede na to, da sem si ogledala tvojo fotko bolj pozno in me je že kar nekaj ljudi prehitelo s komentarji, lahko samo ponovim kar so rekli ostali. Ampak tega ne bom storila... Pošiljam ti velik :) smile, ki ga lahko interpretiraš po svoje. ;)

I really like these very stong contrasts. The silhouettes of the trees make a great framing on the right. It looks really cold with the light snow on the land. You chose a very good point of view. Well done!

No, če ne drugega se ti je obrestovalo s prekrasno fotko, kjer se dejansko čuti ta mraz. In če me oči še niso čisto pustile na cedilu...je tale voda lepo hrustljavo zamrznjena po površini? Jah, kaj naj izrečem drugega kot brezmejno občudovanje. :) Da o beležki niti ne začnem. Nekaj popolnoma novega tudi zame. In izvrsten naslov.

In the old days when we studied geography and history in school, there was no Slovenia or so many other nations except USSR. So now all our lessons would not be useful and the only way is to look at latest maps of the world, especially eastern bloc and Europe.

At least you come across some historic spot and we all know who is Napoleon. Looks like very slippery place and you need boots to walk around a place like this?

Creative shoot to obtain an artistic photo, soft lighting and dim environment increase mysterious feel, simply color just like typical old style photo, I like silhouette of clumps, nice to see reflection still available at the dim corner, distinct image, well dione.

Hello Miha, -10 in Australia we would say that's Bloody cold. Nice little bit of History bust have been someone very important to have this locality named after him. Anyway I like your composition & colour with the blue tinge creating a very cold feeling. That is bloody cold.

Wow, this is amazing picture and I guess one of your Top three. The day I learn to click half as good I'll throw a party for myself....ha ha ha. I loved the colors, the feel and most I liked the soft reflection of the tree in the water. Its amazing.....-10 degrees are clearly visible......

I really like this one because it has a great wintertime mood in it! Even the overexposed part of the sky matches perfectly to the rest of the image, with very nice silhouettes, a pretty beautiful reflection and some interesting colors in the sky in the very background!

Lepa fotka. A niso te zimski barvni prehodi na nebu krasni? Kapo dol za napor ob kadriranju. -10 stopinj ni kar tako... vem, sem lani brodil okrog Cerkniskega jezera, okrog mene pa burja... Kar na enkrat gumbki na fotoaparatu niso bili vec uporabni... no, tudi prsti niso bili uporabni.
