Photographer’s Note

To catch a moment like this, is not just luck.
There's a point in Piran , at the entrance in this small town, on the W point of the peninsula there's a restaurant and a small beach. The Gulf Stream here is considerable, so the sea is font of substantial meal fot seagulls, and clear, and limpid...
We were going home after a shooting afternoon, and i took out the camera again, to get this birds, all turned in the same way, all watching the town, suddenly someone blow a petard..., all of them rised up into the sky in the same moment...
The shutter remained on 5,6, the expo. time on 1/1250, and I did 2,5 shots on second, twenty shots, 18mm, they flyed in front of us, just about 2m away:)...great moment...

That's the great thing about digital; you can blast away with the motordrive and hope for the best without worrying about the wasted film. Maybe it's not such a good thing...
However you got it, shooting one frame or twenty, it's the quality of the image that matters, and I like this one.
Sounds like a cliche, but your shot communicates a wonderful feeling of freedom. You took it in great light, and I like how the birds stand out so clearly from the sea and the sky.

Hi Maja, and a very happy new year to you and yours! It's a simple but quite dynamic catch with the flock of seagulls in flight above the sea, showing all different sorts of poses. I think that the lighting coming from the left gives a good extra touch to this one and enhances the amount of detail that can be found in the birds' poses and plumage.

Saj je hmm,ostrina in svetloba super.Se mi zdi,da si uboge ptice levo in spodaj malo preveč na pol rezala.Nekako mi crop ne odgovarja.

frugando nella tua galleria so che vado sempre a colpo sicuro! Che spettacolo! Potrebbe essere la locandina del film "gli uccelli" di Hitchckock.
Non ho nessun dubbio che una fot del genere non sia questione di fortuna ma di abilità che si vede davvero tutta. Bellissimi colori e bellissimi dettagli dei gabbiani.

ottima scelta di tempo, per fortuna non ti sei spaventata con il petardo altrimenti sarebbe venuta mossa, comunque complimenti, hai fermato tutti i gabbiani, su alcuni si legge la paura in "volto".

Hello Miuky.
It is amazing that these birds can rise up like that and keep from running into oneanother. Good job keeping the horizon nice and straight, as it is quite hard with shots like this. Given how fast your shutter was, there are great colors here and good definition on the shadow sides of the birds.

Excellent moment and capture. The composition is simple, yes, but you were lucky with the seagulls, because they make the difference, and the make so interesting and amazing the photo.
