Photographer’s Note
Hallo dear friends,
a fresh fresh picture today, I've taken it this morning in Koper (Slovenia) ...the boat in background is the "SEDOV" a school-ship of the Russian Marina,
I've stolen this image, with camera to my hips...
I liked how this old sea-man seems ready for sailing....
I hope you like it too,
happy weekend!!
in WS you can see a complete view of the "SEDOV"

Hallo Fabio!
I like this one because of the contrast between this resting ship and the dynamic man in the foreground. There are a lot of details to be seen. Have a nice weekend!

Ciao Fabio, as I am from Russia originally, I know this ship so well, and I think your composition here is wonderful, very dynamic, and your toning is quite successful and fits the contents so well, as it gives an impression of an old picture, in fact nothing reminds here of contemporary times, so it could just as well be taken 100 years ago...
Cheers

Hi Fabio.
Wondeful workshop!
Also, I like how the postman is getting into the picture, adding more dinamiccharacter to the picture and at the same time closes the frame.

Hi Fabio,
I remember SEDOV from it's visit to Turku during tall ships race in 2003. It is huge! And it shows on this shot too. The old fashioned bike also supports feeling of good old times here. Works really well in B&W.

I kind of wish that you had either shown less of the bike, or included all of it in the frame, but apart from that small point, I like this a lot.
I like how the rigging of the ship fills the sky, and how the man's hat suits the nautical environment.
Considering you shot from the hip, I can forgive you the clumsy framing, but it just goes to show that there's no substitute for looking through the viewfinder.
Cheers,
Ben

Hello Fabio -
Well done for a stolen shot. I like the old time feel to the image with the sepia PP. Even though the horizon is slightly askew this image works. I am wondering why a stolen shot - cameras not allowed? Well done!
Thanks for sharing

Hello Fabio, well seen!! I like the tilt that makes us feel the atmosphere. I can see you holding your camera and taking it hoping that it is well framed...You just put it wiiiiide angle, click and hope! The color tone is ust great too. Of course it was impossible for you to get the top of the mast, but it would have been a nice touch.
I see this one as a call for going on a trip...very refreshing!

Hi Fabio,
Well composed and very effective in the sepia motif. I like the tasteful cropping you have done here so as to not lose the seaman with too much focus on the bicycle. His determined stride and black cap certainly denotes him as a sailor. The slight tilt works well and the details of the ship are clearly discernible. Superb work, Fabio - particularly as a shot taken from the hip!

Hey Fabio,
composition back to what you do best, which is people:) I did like the landscapes but I like your people shots more. The verticality here is gerat, all those masts, and with your low POV it really enhances that feeling of height here. One of the better hip shots Ive seen.

I've never successfully "shot from the hip" yet so well done for that. Very interesting shot of the old ships and well chosed sepia treatment. The man with the bike fits into the timelessness here too.

Hi Fabio,
The Sedov always was a comple white ship, and to my surprise they painted it...looks much better.
Your pov is excellent, beause it's not that easy to shoot a picture from such a large object. I like the pov and the b&w a lot, although it is not pure black and white, i do like it.
