8°C inside... sooo fresh!! Photo

Photographer’s Note

...looking for a bit of fresh in these hot hot summer days, yesterday I have made a short day-trip in Slovenja at the Postojna's cavern.. a wonderful site and touristic place.. there was 8°C inside the cavern, and I've found the desired freshness.. :o)

the image quality isn't so good.. 1600 iso, 1/30 sec, no tripod..
but I hope you like it..

excellente prise de cette grotte où comme tu le dis dans ton titre la fraîcheur doit être la bienvenue. J'aime beaucoup la maitrise de la lumière et la qualité de la photo malgré l'absence de pied.

ANd this is ISO 1600 with a Nikon???
WOw, my old D70 was not able to get such good results at ISO 1600.

not easy Fabio,
for myself I have try it ones in a cave in Belgium and the result was nice too, this is a well taken shot, good dark and light, nice quality and well framed, very good job.

Very smooth lighting on this interior shot, Fabio. Considering that you did it at a very high ISO there is almost no noise and very stable. Ciao,

Hi Fabio,
Although a trifle on the dark side, there is a definite ambience here and mystery. The silhouetted columns are effective against the light, and yes, one can almost feel the cool chill of a cavern. I am impressed that with such a high ISO there is so little noise. Well captured.

How is the weather in Europe now Fabio? Because here it was ascorching yesteday, and this morning its cool but really humid. This photo then is a great way for me to escape the heat and fell the cool air that I miss. Very nice quality exposure seeing as there were such big differences in light levels, but you managed well.

Excellent result with the high ISO. We can see all the stalgmites pointing up to the ceiling. I think 8 degrees is a bit too fresh. :) Good shot.

Hi Fabio, nice shot. You have captured the atmosphere very well with the shadows and light. I also think you have done quite well to shoot hand held with such a slow shutter speed. Good details and POV.

Innanzitutto complimenti per la decisione, il posto è bello e affascinante, se poi è anche fresco di questi tempi non guasta, per le foto sinceramente preferisco l'altra nel WS, meno panoramica ma piú di atmosfera, ma complimenti ad entrambi, bravo, hai tirato fuori il massimo dalla fotocamera.

Well Fabio you certainly did well with this capture considering the lack of a tripod. The image has good detail too. Have you ever thought of carrying a bean bag that can be used to set your camera on for a quick fix tripod..only a ground view.. I have found it very handy at times. Nice capture!

I very much like to see this cavern. The good light allows to see the details of its structure and colours. I particulalry like the transparent orange stones.

Not an easy shot at all to take without a tripod...excellently captured with such high ISO & low light. I like the details of the stalactites & stalagmites which has come out very clearly

cavern photos are always very interesting, the quality looks nice at that size. The exposure looks very good what mettering mode did you use centerweighted or matrix? i have the same camera that is why i am interested

Hello Fabio. This kind of photos are very difficult, beacause the light is much complicated. This time the exposition is correct and the photo is very good. Without tripod the photo is very sharpness, good stability. Great work.

The sculptural and natural rock formations in these caverns are amazing! The sharpness is not so important here and it isn't noticeble any noise from the 1600 iso. Your composition is very good and what attract me more is the beautiful lighting. Excellent result for the available conditions.

Inside the cave, light can be marvellous to show creation of nature. You find a very nice place to sow this. Shadow in foreground and light in bacwards.

here is already less than 8°C and i am not even in the cave...i wouln't say it is fresh either;-)...well, this is how it works on this side of the Alps...on the other side is Slovenia...and your image shows a lovely part of it...worth a day trip for sure...this long exposure is almost perfect considering there was no tripod on-site...cheers, arturo

Forgive me for playing the devil's advocate but I can't believe this photo received 90 points. I agree that the POV is good, but that's about it. Looks like a snapshot from a cheap camera. Thousands of pictures like that are being taken every day all over the planet.
