Yellow Papagolfade

This is something you see very often on TE, thanks to Mr. Papagolf, Mr. PixelTerror, Mr. Efigesta and Mr. Tjanze. Slovenia has a lot of old castles, standing witnesses of the past history. The one in Skofja Loka is one of the oldest and one of the best preserved castles in Slovenia. And in my opinion one of the most beautiful ones.
Just Above Skofja Loka, it's dominating this small town. Soon after inhabiting Skofja Lokain year 973, freinsin bishops built the first castle, who was first mentioned in the year of 1202 as very tough (castrum firmissimum). But the earthquake of 1511 tore down most of the castle. It was reinstated in the years 1513 - 1516 by bishop Filip. Today there is a museum in the castle where one can learn about the history of one of the oldest places in Slovenia, Skofja Loka.

Dober kot si vzel za fotko.Lepa čista kompozicija,edino se mi zdi malo preveč kontrasta.Rdeča kar žari.Ostrina odlična.
Škofja loka ima ogromno starih zanimivih hiš,zelo lepo mesto s pridihom patine.

Very nice! Excellent use of light on the building while maintaining detail in the shadows. I like the use of the wall with a red cap stone as a leading line up to the castle. Well Done!

A great shot here which has brilliant composition. The wall leads the eye in nicely and the yellow fronted Papagolfade has great impact. Good light and detail. Well done.

Though the term "Papagolfade" has rather been reserved for photos of churches, it is true that our friend Philippe also specializes in castles and other architectural shots! :o)
I like the pastel colors of this castle and the red shingles on the wall that match those on the roof. Good POV that makes this construction seem huge!

Hello Aleks,
Perhaps the light could have been better if taken on some other day. But the composition with the big diagonal enhanced with a red line is surely excellent.

Great Castle. I like the POV and composition. The light could be better.
Only the sky an the tower has good saturated colours, the rest of the castle seems a bit sombre.
Thanks about the note - one day i hope to visit Slovenie, so i can see this castle in real.

Also like making photos of the castles and chateaux, this one is very nice, standing on a massive rock and defending the whole country.
