Photographer’s Note

It was a bad day with a lot of rain, bat late afternoon come a sun. I take a bycicle and go out with my camera to meet new adventure on hill Jost.

On the top of the mountain is the Baroque church of St. Jost. The interior was renewed in 2002. Once again, while renovations were being done, frescoes were discovered and the Gothic ribs discovered were renovated. The main alter was pushed forward so that frescoes, which had been hidden from sight for about 300 years, could be renovated. The altar part of the church, where prior to the 15th century stood a small Gothic church, is decorated with frescoes painted by the renowned artist Jernej from Loka. On paintings behind the altar are images of Jewish kings and prophets of the Old Testament. In the middle below the images alongside other signatures is the barely visible signature of France Prešeren, who came a lot of times to Saint Jost with his friends.

On the balcony above the main entrance to the church are three natural sized sculptures, a stature of Christ, a Roman soldier and King Herod. On the eastern frontage of the church is a memorial plaque to Janez Evangelist Krek, who visited the top several times before the 1st World War.

Its always worth waiting for the sun look through clouds. This moment was short duration.

I used a polarizer and an ND9 Graduated filter.

waiting for the right light is ALWAYS the best thing do but a bad weather can sometimes make it even better. It seem to me that you did a mixture of both here. Dangerous clouds with a hole where the sun can gets a breaktrough to bath the landscape at the right moment to get an outstanding shot.

Great lighting and a perfectly composed landscape. The PP may not look completety realistic, but I still like it a lot. The rays of light shining down on those houses looks very cool, and the light on the road is captured nicely. The colors look great as well.

Hi Denis,
I am one to like deep rich colors, but this one is just too dark for me - further from the natural than I value. That being a personal opinion only, I do like the perspective and the strong angled sun rays are quite striking. Well done and tfs. Gerald

Almost great...

The processing kills it, I understand it was a super contrasty light but, this looks more like a painting than a photo.

Impressionnant posttraitement qui donne un aspect très inquiétant au ciel. Les couleurs et la lumière sont magnifiques. Seule la zone grisée d'où émergent les rayons lumineux me gène un peu.
