cold morning on Bled Photo

Photographer’s Note

this is, I believe, a most shoted composition of Bled lake and island with a church. On my last photos I show you how it look like in cold fogy morning when tender mist make a mystic atmosphere around.

The sky and the reflection look fantastic. The fog gives the entire scene a special atmosphere, quite different from the regular Bled shots. I feel like it could be just a bit sharper though.

Hi Marjan,
Shot today and already posted! It's a lovely image. The view is wonderful and under that Winter light and thin fog it really gets a mystic mood. The snowed tops of the mountains seem to be floating above the mist and do a very nice visual arrangement with the island and the forested margins of the lake.
It's intriguing how the tower seems slightly tilted but it actually it isn't.

It really is a magnificent view. The “suspended” snow caped mountains are superb as the sky blends with the mountains extremely well. However, i think your photo has a distracting brownish cast which could be easily removed by applying Autolevels in Photoshop (please check my WS). Otherwise it is a very well done picture.

Živjo Marjan,

To pa je nekaj. :) Zelo lepa fotografija z odličnimi odsevi na vodi. Prav zanimivo je kako se Bled nikoli ne postara v očeh trekearthovcev. Morda smo se mi že tako razvadili in nam ni nič posebnega. Mislim, saj je zelo lepo, ampak ko vidiš tisočkrat ti počasi že začne .. no, dol viset. :>
Drugače pa ni kej, lepo in naravno skomponirano. Morda sam mal več ostrine. Verjamem da si preživel prijetno nedeljo zunaj, pri nas v Kamniku smo imeli cel dan meglo, malo višje je bila pa šajba.

A famous place , of course . But your capture is excellent . With the great reflection , and the cold and misty atmosphere . And the snowy mountains in the back ground . I think many pictures can be taken of this place , with different lights , hours , seasons : it is allways fantastic .

Hi, Marjan -

This is an exceptional photograph; the mountains look like they are floating, while the island is exquisitely captured, both on top and in the reflection.

The trees in the distance are too hazy, though, and, like Antontio, I felt that the highlights needed a bit of touching. I dislike Photoshop's auto features, so I did a workshop with manual controls. It keeps the mistiness of the distant mountains, though on looking at it in the Compare function, I think I may have overdone the Burn on the trees; it's difficult to get it exactly right without the original.

Anyway, it's just a suggestion.

Although I miss a bit more of sharpness, all the rest really compensates for that! And, after all, that may be a matter of personnal taste!
This place is magical and fantastic and your picture was taken from a well chosen and priviledged pov! Then you have composed the image so wonderfully with this superb reflection! Soft light and colors completes the scene that I really like!
