Photographer’s Note

Storks nesting on top of a hydro pole. This is a typical scene in the village Dolnja Bistrica, in the Prekmurje region where my family comes from. These nests have been known to weigh in excess of 136 kilos. These birds are a little shy, and they flew off a second after I snapped this. I wish I had a telephoto lens at the time.

Your comment is interesting :) That really looks like a big nest. Next time, maybe try not to center it in the picture. And if you're able to shoot something else just beside the nest to compare the size, it would be great :)

Interesting photo and interesting comment as well. I have tried to shoot storks while nesting probably a hundred of times, but I never had the luck of shooting them in the right moment. I have always shot just empty nest.

Great picture, too bad the nest is centered.
